Treating a sinus infection/cold
Hi all. I have been sick with a bad cold and sinus infection for almost 4 weeks. I have been doctor and walkin numerous times. every time they said my lungs were clear and it was most likely viral and just a bad cold and sinus infection. I was finally given augmentin for the sinus infection last week. I'm on day five with little to no relief. Anyone have any home remedies to help? I am using Netti pot and drinking tons of hot/cold water.

Re: Treating a sinus infection/cold
My doctors had me take the plain blue mucinex (ask your doctors first). That helped thin the mucus. And they prescribed a nasal spray.
Mine hit my lungs really bad and I was almost hospitalized so definitely be aggressive before it reaches that point.

Re: Treating a sinus infection/cold
When I was pregnant last year I had 3 severe sinus infections. The only thing that knocked it out was a Z-pack. Are you at least in your second trimester?

Re: Treating a sinus infection/cold
I am in my second tri. I have been taking mucinex but it really hasn't gotten rid of it it seems to have more calmed it on some days of that makes sense. My chest is sore and achey from coughing and I just feel like my head is in a literal fog.

Re: Treating a sinus infection/cold
I have been dealing with a bad head cold since late November. Just recently it went to my ear and now I can't hear out of my right ear, it's ridiculous. But nothing has helped. I tried musinex, sudafed, afrin for a couple days, and nasal saline. My ob told me that mucus membranes swell during pregnancy so it makes it so much harder to get rid of. I've been living on cough drops bc it's killing me to cough so much. I'm 37 weeks now, so just praying it goes away soon after he's here and he doesn't get sick from me. Hope you feel better and somehow get some relief!
