Pharmacy issues / not stocking certain meds?

Anyone have issues getting certain medicines and having to wait days?

Is this something new?

I got a script for a med - and I have to wait to Thursday for it to be in stock. This is for Tylenol with codeine. I normally don't take things like that.. But I'm still battling something and I'm in pain and went to the doc today to make sure I'm ok.

A relative of mine takes something similar for pain and recently CVS was out of whatever they needed - and so was another CVS in their area.

It seems so ridiculous to be in pain and get a chance at relief and then have to wait days.

Not sure if this happens a lot - ?

My mother runs into this quite often, she has a severe problem with her foot and constantly needs new scripts. My dad now fills them at the hospital pharmacy bc they will always have stock. They are in NJ, so I'm not sure if that's an option for you, but apparently it's very common.

This has been happening to me lately too-but only at CVS. My son had pinkeye and they didn't have his drops in stock and wanted me to wait 2 days. I said no way. I called Rite Aid 2 blocks away and they had it in stock. I had the doctors send an escript there.

That seems crazy to wait until Thursday! Can you see if another pharmacy has it in stock. I would think that would be pretty common.

I have heard of this, that there are drug shortages. I would go to the largest local drug store to see if they are able to fill the scrip. However, my doctor does things electronically and if my local pharmacy is out he gets a message to direct the patient elsewhere.

I had a procedure last November. I was givin a script for Vicodin. I went to 5 CVS stores from my house to east islip. NONE had it. I never got it filled. They told me since they're so many pill poppers they can't keep it shelved.

I go to stop and shop pharmacy and my dd and I had pink eye. He only had 1 bottle. He had to transfer the script over to cvs. Insane. So not only did unjust want to go home with crazy eyes, lol, I had to then stop at another store and cvs is the place on earth I ever want to go. I stopped going there b/c their pharmacy is awful.

There are occasional shortages and the big pharmacies usually get hit the hardest took me 6 CVS last year to get Vicodin for my broken foot... Ended up going to a local mom and pop one they had more then enough and were super nice! Shore drugs in bayshore is awesome if anyone is near there and needs meds ... I hate cvs they didn't have my Med for two days last week but unfortunately I'm too far from shore now

Try a 24 hour CVS.
My usual CVS had to order the narcotic pain reliever I was prescribed, but the told DH to try a 24 hour one since they are more likely to stock narcotics.

Strong pain killers are not stocked in large quantities. It becomes a liability for them

I usually use rite aid but if they are out of something and can't get it same day, they let me know before they take the prescription from me. Are you limited to only cvs pharmacies? Why wait if you are in pain?

Thanks everyone. What a shame that people have to suffer. I'll def try a mom n pop place next time.

I once had that and they (CVS) wanted me to call the dr for a different brand (it was of course after hours ) , I asked if another CVS had what I needed and it turned out the one less then a mile away did, they were able to send it over so I only had to go once to pick up, I was like " how come you did not tell me this in the first place".
