1 or 2 Embryo's
The typical big question how many to transfer? I am really scared for twins since I already have a 5yo, my RE said because of my age (34) and possible Endo she recommends 2. I am lucky enough to have 3 IVF coverage's (75% covered). so was thinking first time try 1 and if it failed next one out 2, Any success with one embryo transfer?

Re: 1 or 2 Embryo's
My first doctor felt strongly about 1. Did two single transfers that both ended in miscarriages. My second Doctor strongly recommended two and I now have a 1 y/o daughter. We are thinking about trying again soon and I have two Frozen embroyos and I will transfer both of them. I am scared of twins but willing to try it to Have another baby( babies). The chance of twins Is small he said and it gives you such a better shot at getting one. Again this was just his opinion not sure if same would hold true for everyone. Good luck

Re: 1 or 2 Embryo's
I have a post on here about the same topic.
my first transfer I only had 2 to work with and they wanted me to put 2. For my age (37) 2 is recommended. I did not. I had a chemical.
2nd time I agonized over it b/c it was my last try with coverage and figured this is it...going for broke. In the end though the decision was made for me and I had nothing make it to transfer.
If you have 3 rounds, I think I'd go for one first, and then any subsequent tries I'd go for two.
good luck!

Only transfer the amount you are comfortable raising!
Been on this road for a long time and have seen almost every possible outcome. Don't bank on what's unlikely because you just never know!

I was 40. Had 8 embryos make it to 5 day transfer. We did 2 given my age. They both took but I lost one at 8 weeks. Needless to say, I am glad we did 2 because we still had our .

I'm no expert but 8 day 5 embryos at age 40 sounds like great results!! Was your RE happy?
To the OP, its a personal choice. I opted to do a single transfer with the premise that should it not work, my frozen transfer would be a double. I have no kids though. So far none of the three embryos that we transferred stuck..

Re: 1 or 2 Embryo's
are you doing a 3 day or a 5 day transfer? Also, what are the grades of your embryos? I would want to know these things before making a decision of how many to transfer.
To answer your other question, I transferred a single 8 cell 3 day embryo back in 2012. I have a 2.5 year old DD from that single embryo transfer. Nothing else made it to freeze. If I had had 2 embryos at that time I would have transferred 2 since I liked the idea of twins.
Back for round DC2, I transferred a single 8 cell 3 day embryo again. Resulted in a MC at 7 weeks. I have 2 frozen blasts to work with from there. I met with my RE during the week and she is advising me to transfer 1 again next cycle since the risk of twins with blasts is high.

Depends on the quality of the embryos and what day transfer.
For me my first IVF I was 28, MF IF and we transferred 2 beautiful blasts. One stuck and is DD.
Second IVF I was 34 and we transferred 2 blasts..good quality and it ended in chemical
I did a FET with one blast and that ended in a MC at 7 weeks.
Our last IVF I was 36 and we transferred two perfect blasts and I'm currently 29 weeks with a
My personal opinion is that I would not transfer less than 2.
FTR my girlfriend had multiple failed cycles including cycles where she transferred 3. Male factor IF only also.
Her last shot they did a 3 day transfer of 3 embryos...all 3 took!!!
They were in shock so you really never know. It's a personal decision. Good Luck

Re: 1 or 2 Embryo's
I only transferred 1. I was 37. I wouldn't want to risk twins. Had a friend who had nasty twin pregnancy complications. She took and is perfect.
