Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
We had very heavy winds last night and one of their trees which is near the property line fell down. It trashed their fence and landed partially on our roof (which seems undamaged). Most of it's in our yard. What is our responsibility, money wise? It's their fence so I don't really care about that.

Unfortunately, it is on your home owners insurance.

Re: Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
Unfortunately whatever landed on your property you need to pay for it to be removed. Your neighbor might take care of it since it was his trees. I've been there and we had the burden of the expense since our neighbor didn't offer. So our landscaper cut the trees exactly on the property line and left the huge stumps for our neighbor to deal with since it was still on his property.

Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
Could you talk to your neighbour first to see what their plan is ? the same thing happened to us last year and they took care of all the cleanup and removal, we didn't have to do anything.

Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
don't quote me on this but I believe unless you can prove the tree was diseased it is your responsibility to pay for the damages on your property

Re: Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
Doesnt matter whose tree, you call your own insurance when it's on your property.

Re: Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
It depends on your relationship with your neighbor. Legally, your property, your problem.
But, when my neighbors tree started leaning on my roof and was rubbing tiles off, I mentioned it to him and he paid to have the tree cut back.
Maybe talk to them?

Re: Neighbor's tree fell into my yard
I got home from work and my neighbors were in my yard- the tree had fallen around 3:30 in the morning, waking us up, but neither of them saw it till a few minutes before I arrived home.
They were both very shaken up and I didn't realize that they'd already begun to remove another tree from their yard because they were concerned about it. The person they hired cut it down and then abandoned the job.
Anyway, they hired our other neighbor who has been working on it with his crew. I feel like I should offer them some money but I don't know how to approach it.
