Pump
How do you know which one to get? There are so many! Dual? Electric? Which other attachments/pieces do you need to get? Any recommendations? Thank you!

Well, I'd first suggest seeing what you're covered for. I called my insurance and they talked to me about coverage and suggested a website and a few brick and mortar stores that I could go through. I chose the website because I'm lazy and all the stores were in bumblefuck New York or Brooklyn or some random place. From there I entered my insurance info and they gave me a list of what pumps I would be covered for- the Medela Pump in Style and the Spectra S2. I chose the Spectra S2 after doing some research- I particularly liked the dual pump and the closed system which makes it easier to clean. I did just order skinny neck adapters off the Spectra website so I can pump directly into my Avent bottles. I figured if I needed to get more flanges or breast shields I could do so down the line.
ETA: Also, some insurance companies won't ship your pump until 30 days before your due date. Mine was not like that. I ordered back in December and had it a week later- completely free!

Agree with PP, depends on what your insurance covers. If it covers Spectra S2, I'd say there is no question to get that one. I'm on some FB boards re: pumps and this one is everyone's favorite. My insurance does not cover it so I got what I believe is the next best, the Medela Pump in Style. If I decide I don't like it, I can get a Spectra S2 for a reasonable price on Amazon. Another one that some people like is the Freemie as it's more portable.
My insurance did not allow me to order until 30 days prior to my due date. I ordered at the 30 day mark and got it within a week.

My sister got a medela pump in style from insurance and never used it so I have that. I also registered for a spectra s2, as I heard it's easier to pump with that one and quicker.

Which you want depends on whether you would be an exclusive pumper, or pump at work/middle of the night kind of pumper. I used the Medela Symphony first time around because DD never latched, and that was the only pump that kept up my supply. I had the handsfree one?! (I forget the name) and I never felt empty. My friend though swears by that one because her baby had latched, and she used the pump to "relieve" herself while at work to maintain her supply.

mine doesn't either- I'm with the DOE and they don't cover pumps.. I was just lucky to get my sister's

If you are just buying a pump and not getting through insurance, I say hands down go with Spectra S2 off Amazon. It's $124 and people say it's the best. The Medela is more expensive but I think Spectra works better (and is easier on your nips)!

Yes this. I speak as a former exclusive pumper. The spectra is better than the medela PISA, IMO.

Agreed. I had a Medela PISA for my first, and got a Spectra S2 this time. I like the Spectra SO much better!
ETA: I got all sorts of accessories for my Spectra pump on
THIS WEBSITE. They even take FSA cards!
