Red, swollen toe
So my 4yo was complaining about her toe this morning. First she said it was itchy and it looked red so I put some cortisone on it. Maybe an hour later she was saying it hurt and it was still red. I can't see anything like a cut or splinter so I figured I'd see if it got better as the day went on. She was trying to avoid walking on it at times but was otherwise okay. We got home hours later and it's still red and I think a little swollen. Cleaned it and looked all over but again see nothing. She swears it doesn't hurt anymore but I don't know if that's just to avoid the doctor. Any ideas or suggestions? If it's not better by morning I'll definitely call the ped but I don't know if I should really get it seen sooner than that.

Red, swollen toe
Was she outside with her toes exposed? Could it be a bugbite?

Not recently. She's always in crocs or sneakers but maybe somehow she got bit. I've been rob to get her to soak it but she refuses

I would poor peroxide on it. If it's an open cut anywhere it will most likely foam a bit.
Also tell her soak it or we def hve to go to the dr. Usually works with my DS

Could it be an infected in grown toenail? You might not see anything other than the redness and swelling if that's the case.

She finally soaked it so hopefully that will help. We'll see how it looks in the morning. She hates having her toes touched at all so it's not fun. She says it doesn't hurt but it looks like it must and she still won't put pressure on it when she walks.

Make sure there is no hair wrapped around her toe.

Could be cellulitis. I would definitely get it checked out, especially if it is more swollen in the morning.
