Libray books for reading levels
So on DD's last report card of the year from K I was told that she is reading at Level E.
I had to google it as I have no idea what the level's mean.
Anyway, I found a chart online, but we'd like to get her books from the library this summer, rather than have to buy books that she will outgrow shorlty.
If I go to the library, will they be able to tell me which books are considered Level E?
I looked on line and some book publishers label them level 1, level 2, etc
Is the lettering system for reading levels pretty standard or no?
Just trying to find her books on her level.

The letters are standard. Sometimes it's listed in the back of the book but the librarian should be able to help.

Guided Reading Levels by Fountas and Pinnell are a common leveling system. Some librarians will know, others won't. I would google a level e booklist and go from there to order books. Some of the level 1/level 2 books are cross leveled with the letters, but others aren't. You can always use the five finger rule (your child might know how to do this) where if she has no more than 3-4 errors in the first page (or few depending on how much is on the page) it's probably a good book for her to work through reading.

Most of the books I've seen have the number levels not letters. It's very annoying to try to figure out which books match up,
DS is on level F. He has no problem reading level 1 books. Level 2 books take a bit longer, but he can read it. He usually needs help with about 5 words per book on Level 2.
I think if you start her on 1 now, she'll be on 2 by end of summer.

I think it depends on the librarian. Ours stink and have no clue. You can google what books are around a Level E and get a list to show the librarian to help you find. I also find from reading with my DD I can easily look at books and guage if she can read it easily, if it is more of a challenge or on level. You might be able to just flip through books and figure out.
My DD was at that level beginning of the school year (she just finished Kindergarten) as per her teacher and she could read the Biscuit books and puppy mudge - maybe try those. Also Mo Willems books. By mid year she could read henry and mudge and Amelia bedelia so maybe try those too.

If you go to the scholastic website and search, you will find lists of E level readers.

Book source.com is a good website to type in a book title and get the level (alpha or Lexile level).

Just to clarify - I wrote that when my DD was reading at an E - she was reading biscuit books and puppy mudge books and Mo Willems. The Henry Mudge and Amelia Bedelia were as I said mid-year a few months later. That is awesome! And you said she's going into 1st this year? As a 1st grade teacher/former elementary reading teacher-I love hearing things like that :)

As it turns out my library has the books organized by the same reading levels the school district uses.
So it was great- they had a whole wall of E level books for her and she went to town!

Do you happen to have these lists for other levels as well? Since it's summer reading time - the library pickings were slim when we went this past weekend.

U can dl scholastic book wizard app and you can scan bar codes and will let u know the level if they are a title scholastic carries
