Chicken pox and 2nd MMR vaccine
When I was pregnant I found out that I was not immune to the chicken pox or rubella. I was supposed to get the shots in the hospital but I never did. Now I am trying to get them, and no one seems to administer them.
My primary said to go to a pediatrician, my daughters pediatrician said she can't administer them to adults.
Anyone have any experience with this and know where I can go?

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think I needed a booster for something while I was pregnant and I *thought* my OB did it. Did you ask your OB what they recommend?

Yeah they were like "oops, we were supposed to make sure you got it in the hospital, now you will have to get it from your primary." Which my primary doesn't do and I also called my local urgent care and they don't either.

How can a primary NOT do vaccine boosters? Don't adults need them from time to time?
I'd call your OB back and push them to get you a solution since this is pretty important.

Your primary should be able to do it. I got updated vaccines from my primary care doctor on more than one occasion (different vaccines).

How did you find out you were not immune? As far as I know no one ever tested me for check on my immunity unless they did but didn't tell me? Curious if I am still.

Maybe I need to find a better primary doctor then...
Leb...when I was first pregnant they ran all these blood tests and that's how I found out what I wasn't immune to.

Call an infectious disease doctor or an allergist.
A friend of mine is going to Bali for her honeymoon and needs to get a ton of vaccines and she is going to an allergist for them.

They did blood work prior to me doing IVF. They did it again at my first prenatal appointment - I think it's routine. If they didn't say anything to you, you're probably still immune.

titer test
I refuse to take any vaccination until I've had one taken
You don't just shoot me up with crap for the sake of some stupid paper cause it says so. I'm a grown woman, you test me and tell me if scientifically I need it. I'm an individual.
I had to take the MMR to go to college as an adult. I refused until I had a titer test taken. I found I was only deficient in Mumps. So at that time I only took that one vaccine. That's when they still had them available broken up.
It's generally not covered by insurance. At least it wasn't for me. I had to pay for the test completely out of pocket. That means finding a place to do it (most labs would) a doctor to prescribe it, and paying for every part of it including the tubes, the shipping, the tests, the research and the results. But it's my blood, my life and my peace of mind. To me it was 100% worth every penny. I'm not a pack animal. I'll take a shot when it's needed. absolutely. But I believe in science.

I know that when it was admitted to deliver my son that they took my blood. I had a question about having ds vaccinated for Mmr when I was pregnant with my dd. My sons ped told me to call my obgyn to ask if my titters were ok. So I called my obgyn and I am still inoculated.

Re: Chicken pox and 2nd MMR vaccine
I had to get the chicken pox vaccine when i did IVF last year as they couldnt determine if i was immune. I had it as a child, but mild. i was sort of in a grey area.
I had to go to walgreens and pay $150 out of pocket.
Walmart carries the shot as well.
My primary wouldnt do it and neither would the pediatrician. (even though we have gotten flu shots from them in the past, they wouldnt administer this one).

I did ivf too and have had tons of blood work. Even immune panels where they took like 35 vials of blood. But his has never been a conversation I've had. Interesting, I'll ask next time.

Chicken pox and 2nd MMR vaccine
I went to my allergist and got tested for everything that you should be tested for.
I know I had the Chickenpox so didn't get tested for that. I also know I have had a tetanus shot in the past 5 years.
They tested me for Hep, MMR, TDAP and mayeb something else.
I had to get boosters for Hep, I had to get the MMR and Pertusis (whooping cough). In fact the Hep was 2 shots over the course of 4 months.
With people refusing to vaccinate their kids I felt it was critical to protect myself. I'm glad I did it. Plus the Whooping cough vaccine is critical. Not only do I have Asthma, but I am around babies a lot. I wanted to make sure I was protecting these babies I would be around.
ETA: My allergist had all the shots and I paid nothing for any of them.
