When did you stop working?
Twin moms when did you stop working? I am thinking of stopping at 34 + 5 to bring me to January 2nd so I can accrue my floating holidays and such. Is it unreasonable to have this expectation?

When did you stop working?
My doctor has me stop working at 28 weeks. I do travel to the city every day and it takes 2 hours door to door. He felt I should be closer to the hospital if something happened. I was planning on working until 30 weeks. This time around I am pregnant with 1 and want to stop at 32-33 weeks because the same thing 2 hours from the hospital. I do not think you are being unreasonable. I would say see how it goes and decide later on. I know plenty of twin moms who worked up until they had the babies.

Thank you!!! Unfortunately I don't have disability insurance through work and stupid me didn't buy it on my own before getting pregnant- totally wasn't on my mind. If I work up to 34 weeks I should have enough time to stay out exactly 12 weeks paid which is my goal! I work on the island, around the corner from plainview hospital, not where I'll be having the babies but still near a hospital. I also can go to light duty as needed and have my own office. My diet had really sucked the last 8 weeks, however, I'm really trying to focus on getting back to eating healthier and I need to get back to my walking routine as long as I feel fine! I am seeing my OB for the first time tomorrow and will discuss him supporting me to work until 34 weeks

Re: When did you stop working?
My OB insisted I stop working at 26 weeks. This was not my plan. He told me this very early on. He said he had a lot of success with twin moms going full term by stopping that early. The goal is always to bake the babies as long as possible.
I worked 10 minutes from my house and had a desk job so I really didn't think it was necessary, not to mention I was extremely lucky and had a pretty uneventful pregnancy.
I'm glad he pulled me out. Right after that, I started feeling really huge and uncomfortable. I delivered my boys at 37w3d (full term) and we all left the hospital in 3 days.
If I worked longer, maybe it would have been fine, maybe not. I listened to my OB and made sure we were always on the same page.
I even had a wedding to go to in Rochester when I was 36 weeks. I know it's not THAT far but I was a little nervous since I was so far along. I was having a great pregnancy and he was like go, have a great time. If your feet swell, put them up and you can drive so your husband can drink.

Re: When did you stop working?
I stopped at 32 weeks. At that point I was seeing my MFM once a week and OB once a week and commuting into the city was just too much. By 34 weeks I was at the MFM twice a week and OB once a week.
Walking and commuting was really taking a toll. If I had to do it again, I would have stopped sooner. Either way I wasn't going past 36 weeks being that the girls shared a placenta, one was breech and had cord issues.

Thanks all!! I spoke with the OB last night. I told him I want to at minimum work to 34 weeks. They are totally supportive and said we can change plans as we go. At 30 weeks I'll start weekly monitoring. For now. They foresee no issues I'm having DI/DI twins and they aren't concerned. For now, they are planning to keep them in until at least 38 weeks and as long as I'm ok and the babies are ok, they will let me go as long as possible with work and let me go to 38 weeks. Hopefully this pregnancy is smooth sailing and no issues!!
