First Birthday without a party
My son's birthday is this month, we are not having a party for a number for reasons, mostly timing/people being away/other family functions/events etc.
We are going to celebrate only with my mom and our siblings (7 adults plus my son).
I am looking for ideas on how to celebrate the day without having a party. Thinking maybe a short day trip/gateway. Zoo maybe? But I am thinking he might be too young for a zoo. He loves water/pool but is more interested in drinking the water than playing in it.... I also want the adults to be somewhat entertained as well, which makes it a bit harder to come up with an idea.
Do you lades have any ideas how to celebrate first birthday without having a party?

First Birthday without a party
Dh and I took dd to the Central Park zoo for her first birthday- it is on the small side and the animals are easy to see- they also have a children's zoo with a petting zoo area. My dd loved it. There is also a carousel in Central Park that we usually go to when we go to the zoo.

Do something you think your baby will enjoy... Aquarium is probably the best Or get a splash table and put it up...
Then, get an ice cream & let baby indulge!

First Birthday without a party
Since it's mostly adults anyway, just have a regular family dinner like you would for any other occasion and then have birthday cake for dessert. He won't know it's his birthday anyway. If you want to do the zoo or another activity, I would do that with just you, your DH and the birthday boy. I wouldn't go with a group.

I agree. 7 adults sounds like a party to me! It's bigger than the parties I had for my kids' 1st bdays (we have very small families). But I still called it a party! We had dinner & cake & sang happy birthday & wore party hats.

Agree with all this. That's a lot of adults to bring to a zoo type place. Dinner with cake and some balloons sounds perfect.

First Birthday without a party
At a year you could do anything. They won't remember so it's more about the family.
We have only had one party for my son and that was at 4. Other than that it's pizza and cake at the house for very immediate family.
