Swimming Pool Depths
Could use some opinions! (I might have even asked this already, but the search feature doesn't seem to work. )
We're getting ready to start digging our pool (tomorrow! ), but I'm torn on the starting water depth.
Currently the water line is planned to start at 3'6" and go to 4' then drop off into the deep end at 8'. BUT being that I'm tall, my idea of shallow vs deep is skewed. I feel like 3'6" is too shallow and that we should start at 4' and have it go to 4'6" then drop off, but my DH thinks that might be too deep for out little ones and shorter family & friends.
The red text is my revision, but I haven't sent it to the pool builder yet.
Any thoughts/opinions!? Thanks!!!!

What's about right? Starting with a 3'6" depth?
I'm 6'1" so 3'6" is at about my hips..which I hate when I'm in a pool. But for someone who's 5'4", it's a different story. I'm not looking to submerge my friends.
Yeah, I guess it's on the larger side (I wanted it to be 25' x 50' but my DH wasn't having it. LOL ). With 4 kids, we always have friends here and I wanted to be sure there would be enough room, especially since the spa eats up some of the pool area.

Re: Swimming Pool Depths
Since you have 4 kids and will have kids around - I think the starting at 3ft 6 is better

IMO, 4" is way too deep to start at! If you are planning on having children in the pool I think you should go with 3'6.

This. A friend of ours has a pool about the depths you are looking at and they had benches built into the very ends of the deep end which was AWESOME. It gave the adults a place to sit and hang out and a place for the kids to relax after playing in the water all day.

Look into adding a bench in the deep end. A friend of mine has this and I love it. Wish we could do that to our pool.

We were trying to avoid any projections into the pool for fear of kids jumping in and hitting them, so right now we have a small radius in each deep end corner to be used as a way to get out (or as seating), but we're thinking about adding something a little longer by the slide, being that people will be less likely to jump into the water there. We just have to watch for recommended space requirements with the slide.
