Maternit21 tesr
I have my first appointment with my regular gyno next week which will put me at 10-1/2 weeks. I was just released from my fertility doctor. Who does the maternit21 test. Is it the gyno? Do u need to schedule it? Should I call to be safe?

Re: Maternit21 tesr
I went to the perinatal place across the hall from my OB. When I went for my first sono the perinatal doctor there discussed the test with us. Because of my age and history of losses we decided I should do it. They did it right then and there. They also weren't particularly busy that night. I also knew my insurance covered it so you may want to call ahead and ask just to be safe.

Might get more helpful responses on the pregnancy board. Good luck.

the test itself is a blood test that is done by your OBGYN. If your insurance covers it, there should be no cost to you and will test for a whole host of genetic diseases. A cool bonus if that it will identify the gender as well. If your insurance doesn't cover it, find out what they will charge you since you are considered self pay and every dr. can charge differently. When i had mine done I was also around 10-12 weeks along and it was just done as regular blood work along with my NT scan blood work. But double check and see how your OBGYN does it
