Riviera Maya/ Cancun/ Cozumel resort recommendations
We are planning on visiting friends who live part of the year on Isla Mejures. Aside from visiting them, we want to spend part of the trip at a resort, fairly near by. Any recommendations would be much appreciated (doesn't have to be the areas in my subject line, just relatively close to Isla Mejures)
Thanks!

Re: Riviera Maya/ Cancun/ Cozumel resort recommendations
we stayed at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal (Don Pablo) in June - absolutely loved it!
Luxury Bahia Principe
We got a great deal too - with airfare on Jet Blue - ocean front rooms 6 nights was under $1,800 for the two of us! We booked directly on jetblue getaways.
We didn't stay at the Sian Kaan property (the adults only) because it wasn't directly on the beach but if you stay at the Don Pablo/Akumal you can use all of the amenities of all 5 resorts (but they can't use the Akumal). It was really great.

Rosewood Mayakoba was amazing. Very expensive but worth it.
My friend RAVES about Grand Veles, which is an all inclusive resort right next door to Mayakoba.
I have Nizuc on my list. It looks gorgeous and is new.

If going as a couple, I would recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres or the Beloved. If going as a family - the Finest. From any of these hotels you can walk to the Ultramar Ferry or it's a quick cab ride to the ferry.
If you don't mind a longer car ride, I also agree with Iberostar Paraiso Maya (family resort)

Banyan Tree Mayakoba. It's in the same complex as the Rosewood. It was one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in.
