Democratic socialist and progressive are the two labels I feel best describe me. I'm pretty much as left as they come. I am a huge Sanders supporter and volunteered for his campaign.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the worlds happiest people are found in Denmark, Norway and other socialist countries.

I apparently am a right leaning libertarian. Makes sense to me. I don't like labels though.

Here is what I believe though: I believe in capitalism. I believe that the way to succeed is through hard work. I believe in helping yourself first because the only way you will be able to help other people is to make sure you are at your best. I believe in helping people. I believe in the inherent goodness of people. I believe men and women are equal. I believe equal doesn't mean the same - we should celebrate our differences. I believe in facts. I believe in love. I believe love is love and you should be free to love whoever you want but I believe other people have the right to disagree with your beliefs and don't have to approve of who you choose to love. I believe some people are just ignorant. I don't believe government can or should legislate morality. I believe no one has the right to tell another person how to live their life. I believe sometimes we need to be strong and feared. I believe the job of a government is to protect its citizens and provide a stable economy but to stay out of its citizen's bedrooms, homes and churches. I believe in free speech and the freedom of the press. I believe the press has a responsibility to provide FACTS not opinions. I believe everyone has the right to an opinion. I believe in life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Finally i believe that puppies and bunny rabbits make the best pets.

I am socialist. A democratic, social capitalist would be more precise. I believe in democracy and capitalism, with a healthy amount of socialism in there.

I have never known where exactly I fit in on the political spectrum, but reading this I think describes me pretty perfectly! Thanks for the enlightenment! Chat Icon

I am socially liberal and moderately fiscally conservative.

I've always bristled at the parties' hypocritical stances on civil and economic policy. GOP wants government "out of the boardroom" but they want to be the morality police, legislate sexual proclivities and reproductive organs.

Dems are all free to be whatevs in the social sphere but then they want to tax the hell out of people and redistribute it. Love Obama as I do, he was bought and sold like the rest of them, so it's never the blindingly wealthy corporate class who pays, hence the reality that the vast majority of GDP growth under his rebounding economy has gone to the top 5% of earners while wages stagnated for the majority. I found Sanders to be an incredibly inspiring figure, but I could NOT get behind his economic policies, which many highly respected economists debunked as fiscally untenable entitlements in a time when SS/Medicare are on the brink of collapse.

Part of this is my personal background. I grew up poor, and I leaned on some social programs to help me get my start, like college grants and loans, but I also worked my a$$ off 30 hours a week to keep myself in school, and you can bet I didn't miss classes while I was slaving to pay for them. I'm of the "teach a man to fish" mindset, and I think we should be working to make opportunity, healthcare, etc. ACCESSIBLE to every person, but I think individuals need to be personally invested in their own advancement and survival as well.

I'd consider myself somewhere between libertarian and republican, depending on the issue. I will never get on board with most of the far left thinking though.
