Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
Really wasn't thrilled with the bassinet or the swing we had for DD for a bunch of different reasons.
Are Rock N' Play's safe/acceptable for overnight newborn sleeping? Can the baby be swaddled and put down in it?
Thanks!!

Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
Really? I'm mad now. When we told our pediatrician that's what we had our DD sleeping in she told us it wasn't acceptable. She made us feel like terrible parents.

Re: Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
My baby also slept for a short period of time in the Rock N Play.. but it's not meant for overnight sleeping because it's not a hard, flat sleep surface which is what is recommended by the AAP. It also says in the directions not to be used for sleeping..

Yes not safe but people use it for that. The manufacturer states it's not meant for overnight sleeping

The manufacturer in fact states that it is safe for overnight sleeping. From the Fisher Price website: Sleeper and playtime seat in one! Baby can sleep at a comfy incline all night long! Switch on calming vibrations. Rocks with a gentle push to soothe or stimulate baby. Supportive seat back and plush newborn insert & head support help keep baby elevated and secure. Linkable clacker toy—take it on the go! Compact fold for portability & storage.

Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
dd was in it for 3 months but it can flatten their heads to make sure to try using the crib or something else for daytime naps

Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
My son was in it until just under 3 months. At that point I felt he needed a bigger space to move around in and stretch out. That's when we moved him to his crib. But the RNP is the only place he would sleep soundly when he was first born. He wiggled around non stop in the bassinet... It just didn't work for us. The RNP + swaddle combo is a lifesaver.

Re: Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
I did with both kids until they went in the crib around 5/6 months or so. I didn't swaddle though.

That's why I tried not use it- the flat head. Fortunately DD loved her bassinet so we used that until she was ready to switch to the crib.

Re: Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
We are planning on using the RnP as a sleeper overnight for at least the first few weeks to a month. We do no currently have a bassinet.

Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
My pediatrician recommended it to us bc our son has reflux lol. It's so funny how many differing opinions there are.

Rock N' Play for overnight sleep?
My daughter slept in the Rock and Play for a few months. It is ABSOLUTELY safe! Look at the Fisher Price website for more details. The incline really helps with any indigestion the baby may have, the breathable sides are much more safe than a bassinet and the deep seat allows the baby to be safely cradled. I swaddled my newborn and let her sleep soundly in the Rock and Play Sleeper for months!

What's not safe about it?
