I would say, I'm sorry, but the place can only accommodate a limited number of children and we're at the maximum.
agree
agree, its sweet, to the point.
Just went thru something similar, but it was a family member asking if their teen could bring his girlfriend to our ds's bday party. We're already over our limit for the room at the restaurant, so we just told them that. Plain and simple.

I don't think the mom asking is rude, nor do I think it is rude of you to say no. It is no big deal either way. Sometimes parents just can't get childcare, but they'd still like to attend. Just say, I'm so sorry, but can't accomodate siblings.

Re: Asking to Bring Sibling to Party- Need Help
What age is the party for? Is it possible she could just drop the child that's invited off? t
I don't know if I would say it's rude to ask - it would be rude if she just showed up with the older sibling. But it does put you in an uncomfortable situation. I wouldn't say that the place can only accommodate x amount of children and you are at the limit unless that's really the case. If the party is at Pump It Up and you only have 15 kids coming clearly this mom will know that you were lying. I think that if it's just one person asking and it won't break the bank I would just tell them that it's fine.

Asking to Bring Sibling to Party- Need Help
Just tell the truth. You're trying to keep it small and are already maxed out. It's no nig deal.
When my kids were in preschool, they always went to each other's parties because the kids knew both of them. Even when only one was invited, when I asked if I can bring the other, the response was always of course. Because the preschool classes were smaller, the parties size barely met the minimum. Now kids are in school they go to their own parties, but my younger one always cries when left behind.
I don't think it's rude to ask because why waste the space if the minimum hasn't been met. I also don't think it's rude to say no if you're maxed out.

Re: Asking to Bring Sibling to Party- Need Help
I don't understand this. I have 3 kids. DH works a lot and I may be on my own. I would be more inclined to ask if its okay if I drop my kid off and leave with my other 2 before I asked if I could bring my 2 other kids. It really puts the host on the spot and it's not right. If the party was at a place like say Chuck E. Cheese..then I would stay and have my other 2 in a separate area to play. I would never expect the host to accommodate my other kids. My DS wants to have a house party this year but this is the first year we would be inviting "school friends" and posts like this make me want to tell him no. I don't need 50 kids running around my yard. I digress..
I would just say "I'm sorry but we maxed out".

That also happened to us when we moved here. Didn't know anyone so we invited the whole class. We have a ranch but knew not everyone would show up. However 16 kids RSVPd yes and some brought their siblings without asking. Thankfully it was warm so some played outside but it was like Lord of the Flies back there and a bunch ran off to the basement to get away from it. That was the last time we had a home party!
