Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
Same happened to us exactly. It was maddening. nothing worked. Sticker charts, bribes, praise, nothing. Then one day she just decided to poop in the potty and that was it. I feel like it's a fear thing or a control thing She would say she was afraid to. If they hold it too long it does get dry and hard and it will hurt, so it just perpuates the cycle.
Your doc might suggest fiber gummies, prunes, or even Miralax if she is really constipated from it.
It was such a long road and I felt like she was never going to poop in the potty but one day she was just ready and that was that.
Hang in there.

Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
we told DD that if she didn't poop, we'd have to take her to the doctor and she would get yucky medicine. in the beginning she went ~3 days between poops.
we made a BIG DEAL for when she did do poop. a novelty ring (she still calls it her poop ring) and other trinkets.
when also told her to say "get out of my belly" and make a mad face. she still does that to do this day sometimes. pretty funny overhearing it in the bathroom. but whatever works, right.

Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
This is me with DS. He's 3.5 and the same. He knows when he has to poop - he tells us "put a diaper on I have to poop." But he is TERRIFIED like someone is trying to kill him, to poop in the potty. I tried undies and he ended up taking them off, and then cried hysterically as he pooped on the floor (not on purpose, he didnt wanna do it, he couldnt hold it anymore.)
I've stopped pressuring him. We offer, he says he'll do it when he's bigger, or 'tomorrow'. I can't fight him and traumatize him.

YES! She would always go in the same spot- kind of behind our couch and we'd know exactly what she was doing. Then she would come to us crying "pooooppieeee" and there would be a load in her underwear. It was so gross and I had to throw out so many pairs of panties because sometimes it was too gross to even clean.
I think she was like 4 and a half when she just went inside one day, and came out all excited to show us she pooped in the potty. All on her own with no prompting. And after that , she never pooped in her pants again.

Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
Same thing happened with DS. He peed in the potty a year before pooping in it. He would need to poop and either grab a pullup to put on or ask me to put it on for him, he would poop and back into his undies. The doctor suggested giving him prunes (or a laxative...something to make him go) but I didnt want to do that to him. I tried bribing, rewarding etc and nothing worked. One day he literally woke up and said mommy I'm done with the pullups, I want to poop in the potty and that was it, he packed up his pull ups and has been pooping on the potty since. He did of course remind us that we told him he could go to pick out a toy from the toy store when he pooped on the potty - so they do remember all that you are trying to bribe them with I would keep encouraging her and mentioning getting rid of diapers (we told DS we were giving them to our friends baby, so when he put them in a bag he said give them to baby patrick). Hopefully it happens soon!
Now I need to hope DS is ready to give up his paci just as easy one day

Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
It happened with my DS too. Took 2 months and then he decided he wanted to poop in potty and that was it. I washed a LOT of underwear by hand.

Re: Won't poop in potty but will pee all day
Lol. I know. I'd have the babysitter put them in zip lock bags for me. A friend of mine just treated underwear like diapers and threw them out.
I now have the opposite problem... a kid that will poop but not pee. Kids are insane!

Re: **UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
I would put a call into your ped to see what they think. Miralax akways worked for us but it takes a few days. If the pedilax didn't work though I would call though and see what they advise

Re: **UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
Our little guy , when he would finally go, would poop out these really long cement logs. Horrible and painful. He ate all sorts of fruit but never really drank anything so I put miralax in everything he would drink all day long. It helped a lot
Good luck I know how painful it can be- both for the kids and the parents that watch helplessly
Oh- one time when it was real bad we stuck him in the bathtub with really warm water and let him splash around in the tub for a while. That worked like a charm!

**UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
Miralax but it takes a day or so. Maybe a suppository you'd have to hold her down probably. How old is she? Prune pear juice.

Re: **UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
DD 2 was the same way Learned to pee right away but poop was another story I spoke with a behaviorist - colleague at work And he said with some children it is a complete control issue and you need to set it up as if they are in control of going to the bathroom on their terms. After we switched our approach DD never had an accident again after 3 days.

Re: **UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
I feel completely hopeless and stressed out beyond belief. I've tried prune juice and pedia-lax for 2 days and nothing... it's only been making her fart. I watched her get uncomfortable today and almost felt like she was holding it in... Her doc suggested miralax... so I gave it to her today and a warm bath and still nothing. I told her she can poop in her diaper or the potty... whichever she wanted and shook her head no for both choices. At this point, I feel like she's holding it in and don't know what to do...

How bout physical activity? Trampoline? Swimming? Make a small obstacle course in the backyard? Drinking something warm like hot chocolate?

Miralax takes a few days. Give it again tomorrow

**UPDATE** Extremely constipated!
I would put a diaper on her so she feels comfortable. Give her lots of fiber rich foods. Avacado is great, peas, pears. Lots of water. Limit dairy, bananas. Last resort try a rectal thermometer after a warm bath. Also if you think she is holding it in, don't talk about it anymore. Distract her. Do something fun and don't let her see you stressed. Good luck!!
