Sturdiest sneakers for sneaker destroying boy?
My 5 yo son is really hard on shoes. I have no idea how he does it, but he destroys most shoes just days after getting them... the area by the toes starts to fall apart. I think he kicks cheese graters when I'm not paying attention?
What are your sturdy go-to sneakers? He generally wears a size 2.

i've actually had pretty good luck with the "SurpriZe" brand at Target... they're made by stride rite for Target. i have 2 boys who are the same way, and these so far seem to be doing ok

So far we've had great luck with Sketchers. DS wore through two pairs of Stride Rite shoes in less than a year, I will never buy them again.

I really like Plae shoes. I think they're only available online but I found them to be super sturdy and my kid finds them comfortable. The non-suede sneakers are machine washable, too.

Skechers have become horrible. My ds Velcro broke after 3 weeks. We just got some Nike hopefully they will hold up better

I only buy New Balance for my little guy. They sell them in Stride Rite.

my son is picky about sneakers and also very rough on them. he likes asics and they hold up pretty well. i'm able to find them at the outlet for a descent price as well.

Honestly, I buy whatever is on sale because I know he will destory them. He likes champions (which i get at payless) and everlast (from kmart).
He has about 4 different pairs, and we rotate wearing them so they last a little longer.
We need new shoes every 3 months or so regardless. I don't think there's a sneaker out there that will last longer than that on my kid.

I generally stick to New Balance and Tsukioshis for my boys. Tsukioshis are available on Zappos. Not cheap but super comfortable, room to grow, easy to put on, and neither of my boys have ever destroyed a pair.

Re: Sturdiest sneakers for sneaker destroying boy?
i usually stick with either stride rite or new balance because he has a wide foot, but i found no matter what she i buy it gets destroyed. I generally buy his shoes at kohls online and wait for a 30% off coupon this way its not so expensive since I know they won't last long.

I go with stride rite or skechers. My goes through target or lower prices sneakers very fast, like less than a month.

Well at that age it is normal to replace sneakers every three months because their feet are growing. So I would ask how long are they lasting?

DS is 5. I bought a pair of under armour and a pair of stride rite sneakers in Sept when he started K. The under armour fell apart in about 2 weeks. The Stride Rite he is still wearing today. And other than snow boots in the winter, he wears them everyday.

Three months would be a dream. I would be perfectly happy replacing shoes every three months, and I would never have even posed this question!
I gave up buying the more expensive shoes because it was literally like throwing away money. The velcro fell apart so quickly on the last pair of Nike I bought him. It actually separated from the tab so that the velcro would stick together, but the tabs themselves would just flop around.
Soooo I figured I would save some money and buy cheap shoes. Except that--his last pair of sneakers (from target), on DAY TWO the rubber on the front by the toes was peeling off... as if the glue used to fuse the rubber to the shoe just gave up. I bought those to replace a pair that I had gotten from payless where the seam started to separate on the back by the ankle. So now I seem to be buying shoes weekly. Obviously, not saving myself any money--or time-- there.
So I figured maybe I would try a better quality shoe again to see how long I can get out of them.
I've had him sized three times in the last month to make sure I am getting shoes that fit him. No one else I know has this problem. I really have no idea what my kid does to his shoes at daycare. If I didn't know better, I would swear they hand him seam rippers, scissors and glue dissolving chemicals. I'm just getting so tired of buying shoes for everyone but myself. lol

Re: Sturdiest sneakers for sneaker destroying boy?
Oh boy. I preferred stride rite for my kids when they were little. Some of the shoes are made better than others. Usually, I had success when they were about $45 a pair. I felt like the $29 ones always wore out much faster.

I buy the cheapest shoes I can find on amazon. Its like my son eats them. He goes through a pair every 6-8 weeks. I used to buy more expensive shoes but those dont last him either so I refuse to throw money away.

Re: Sturdiest sneakers for sneaker destroying boy?
Both of my boys destroy their sneakers quickly and they're slow growers so I normally wouldn't have to replace them that often. I've bought cheap and expensive pairs and since none of them hold up that well, I just look for sales or try to buy them at the outlets. I buy at least 2 pairs and have them rotate in the hopes of them lasting a little longer. I don't care how worn they look, but when there are holes in them or parts separate from each other, it's time to replace them. My older one seems to like New Balance, but I don't know that they really hold up any better than other brands. My younger one has been getting Sketchers.

My DD is the same, I have only ever had luck with Keen. Not exactly sneakers, but rubber soled and the rubber wraps up over the toe.
