Construction at LGA
Friend has a flight back to FL today. I haven't been to LGA in quite some time and heard that there is heavy construction.
Has anyone been to LGA recently and can provide an update? It typically takes about an hour from Northport. Wondering how much extra drive time we should allow.
TIA!

Re: Construction at LGA
Thank you! I am a ball of nerves as it is (trying to get back to FL myself) and only flight I could find for him was out of LGA. I will make sure that we leave ample time to get there.

Construction at LGA
Flew out of there last week - had an early morning flight and we parked at The Parking Spot - so didn't go directly to the airport and had a shuttle from the parking lot to the airport, but it really didn't seem too bad. We did leave plenty of extra time. From Commack to the parking lot took about 1 hr (we left the house about 6:15 am.)

Re: Construction at LGA
I work right across the street, depends on when sometimes its ok other times nightmare (esp during evening rush hour). Mornings seem ok... Just give yourself enough time, you will be ok.

Re: Construction at LGA
I've been flying out of there multiple times a month for the entire time of construction (and prior) and i have yet to have one of those news headline type experiences, where people were abandoning their taxis on the grand central and walking to the airport. I've driven there in morning rush hour, random afternoon times and early evening and nothing has been too terrible or much different than driving there prior to construction. i'm also coming from western suffolk north shore. typical rush hour delays if you leave between 6-8am on a weekday. all that being said, i almost always am flying out of terminals A, C or D which I think are slightly less congested to drive through/around than Terminal B. I suspect a lot of the bad press you hear about dealing with the construction traffic is about getting to terminal B.
more so than getting TO the airport, trying to EXIT the airport to head back east has been more of an issue since construction started. the construction changes traffic patterns weekly and it's been hit or miss for me if i get on the parkway quickly or it takes 20-30 minutes or so from parking (lots 4 or 5 is where i park).
i have TSA precheck and like to live life on the edge - so outside of morning rush hour times, i only give myself an hour to get there to arrive 45-60 minutes before my flight and i've never missed one yet!

Construction at LGA
We flew in and out of there a few weeks ago with no issue. We got a ride and fights were early morning/late night so that all helped I'm sure.

Construction at LGA
Traffic at LGA isn't about getting to the Airport grounds its getting to the terminal/parking once you are on property. Its a mess and could take an hour + just for on the grounds.

Re: Construction at LGA
We have been there two times from Western Suffolk. In and out, construction did not effect us. Just look at LGA website and see what exits they want you to use for whatever terminal you need to go to.

Re: Construction at LGA
Update.... No traffic on way to airport or entering airport. Drive time was about an hour. Parked in the 3 hour free lot. Walked to Terminal C. Saw friend off. A breeze!
As some warned, the headache came when exiting the airport and traffic on way home.
