Best Ancestry Service/Kit?
Please help ?? Can you please tell me which one you purchased and your experience.
I would love to get this for my husband as a gift. He has mentioned in the past that he always wanted to do this. I'm assuming mainly for ancestral history.
I know there is ancestry.com and just saw 23 and me online (sorry if I didn't get the name right) there are too many to choose from.
Thanks in advance for all your help

Best Ancestry Service/Kit?
I did Ancestry and was happy with it. I know about a dozen family and friends who have done it and they all went through Ancestry. I got an email saying they are on sale right now for $59.

i did mine through family tree DNA and thought it was cool, but that's the only one i've done. My friend has done them all and said ancestry is the best one

It's really fun! It's great too if others in your family do it so you can see what comes from which side. My mom did it before me, so of course I had all the same places as her, but I also had 26% of regions she had nothing in so I know that all came from my father's side.

That's awesome I also see on their site that they have gift memberships. I would like to purchase the 6 month world explorer one, since his family was originally from outside of the U.S. Do you have any info on that? Thank you

I did the 23 and me but for the gene purpose (I don’t have a lot of information from my biological fathers side of the family). I did get a bunch of information. In regards to the ancestry part, I did know a lot of the information but it was quite interesting. Good luck!

Best Ancestry Service/Kit?
DH just got me the Ancestry DNA kit. I mailed it back on Saturday. I do a lot of genealogy, so I'm looking forward to receiving the results.

did you get a lot of information. My daughter is adopted from China - she's 13, and has brought up doing Ancestry here and there, but this sounds interesting. Did you get health information, etc.
Thanks

I'd be careful with this. Schumer is advising people to be careful, because these companies can potentially sell your genetic data to third parties. I heard it on the radio this morning. Personally, I'm not a fan of having my information uploaded to some database.

Best Ancestry Service/Kit?
My husband's entire family did DNA tests. He did it first with 23 and me, because his dad's adopted and he thought maybe he could find some relatives, and he was curious about his possible ancestry. Then, my father in law's cousin bought them for all his relatives from ancestry.com because he's really into genealogy. He was able to find a biological cousin of my FIL, who he's now been in contact with and gotten some family background from.
It's interesting, but I've always been nervous about giving a company my DNA. I'm not sure if that concern is valid, but it's what has given me pause about doing the test (also the slight fear that I'll find out I'm related to my husband, because his father was adopted from the same area my family has been for generations).
