Re: High cholesterol
my dad did it all naturally with no drugs. He started eating oatmeal, walking more, and also did a cocktail of supplements like red yeast rice, niacin and a few other things I can't recall but you can probably google it.
His doctor was amazed at the progress he made with no statins. (And he likes to eat crappy food, trust me)
Did your doctor give you any ideas on how to lower it? A diet?

High cholesterol
I have always had elevated cholesterol and triglycerides even though I eat relatively healthy and workout. I started eating oatmeal last year and my cholesterol is now SO low. I swear by oatmeal.

Exercise, even just walking, and adding fiber to your diet are two of the best natural things you can do to lower bad cholesterol. Good luck! You can do it!

Re: High cholesterol
Add oatmeal to your diet Lower your sugar Intake Try to eat less animal protein
Supplements : Fish oil pills Flaxseed oil pills CoQ10 metimucil daily
Walking/exercise helps ring up your good cholesterol which will combat the bad.
I had high cholesterol and extremely high triglycerides and low good cholesterol.
I made all of these changes. Doing these things led me to eating better, which brought me to weight watchers and I lost 25 lbs over 1.5 years.
All of my numbers are good now. Sometimes triglycerides jump up but i have a candy addiction and will binge sometimes lol

Does oatmeal lower cholesterol because its oatmeal or does it lower cholesterol because you're eating oatmeal for breakfast instead of something like bacon and donuts?
Thanks

It helps remove cholesterol from you body. Probably due to the fiber. I think Cheerio's does as well
Here:
Oatmeal contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL), the "bad" cholesterol. Soluble fiber is also found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, barley and prunes.
Soluble fiber can reduce the absorption of cholesterol into your bloodstream. Five to 10 grams or more of soluble fiber a day decreases your total and LDL cholesterol.

this is why metimucil helps as well Small changes can make a big difference over time
