What kind of coat do you wear for weddings/formal events?
I'm going to a black tie wedding in November and need a coat to wear over my dress in and out of the car etc but also for anytime I'm dressed up. What kind of coat do you guys normally wear when you're dressed up? Long wool coat?

Yes a longish wool coat. Mine isn't really that long though- more like above the knee because I can't handle anything too long. I have my long puffer coat for when I'm not so dressy
ETA- you won't be wearing it for long so it's pretty much to wear in the car and into the venue and then you'll be checking it so no need to worry if it really doesn't go or isn't fancy enough

Thanks! Normally I wear my black puffer coat but this is black tie so I thought I may need to get something little dressier. If I can't find something, a black puffer it will be

I have a black fine wool wrap that I wear to functions like this. It's a cross between a cape and a wrap, so it's longer, with a ruffled edge so it looks a little bit dressier.
I don't wear a coat in the car anyway, so a wrap is a perfect cover.

Re: What kind of coat do you wear for weddings/formal events?
I got something similar to this at NY&co years ago
It’s a pleated pea coat. It’s perfect for formal wear. It’s a thinner material but blocks the wind well. I can’t for the life of me explain the material tho. It’s not wool (it itches me to death) it’s water repellent as well
