Shoe question- is this a thing?

While I see people wearing boots in this cold weather, I’m also seeing this trend of people wearing sneakers a certain way.

They basically wear sneakers with anklet socks and skinny jeans (with some skin showing). I can’t help but think this must be really cold for them. There no bootcut jeans really to be seen here.

Do you see this as well?

Re: Shoe question- is this a thing?

Yes. I've seen it too. Looks cute if it's worn the right way. I'm not tall enough to pull it off bc I have no pants that stop right at the ankle. LOL
I imagine they only wear it outside a short time and when running errands.
I'm always in my Uggs with that look running errands. Sneakers and jeans don't look right on me.

This. I think it looks cute too. But for the From the car to the store back to the car kinda day. Not out all day schlepping around. That piece of skin would be blue by the end of the day

I do that. So much more comfy to throw on my slip on sneakers with my skinny jeans. My ankles are not cold...but I wouldn't do it in snow, for example.

Yes and to be honest, that little bit of skin showing never made me cold.

I have mostly ankle length pants, and it has been cold on my ankles these few weeks. I wore boots to commute the other day when the am temp was 29. Switched to ballet flats in the office.

Honestly, I think it looks stupid to be bundled up for the cold only to have your bare ankles showing.
I'm guilty of that look

I do that. I don't do it when its sub zero but I wear flats and loafers and stuff to commute to work (no socks) and I'm fine.

Re: Shoe question- is this a thing?

I also go bared legged all winter long. If a dress looks good with tights, I'll wear tights, but if the dress doesn't go with tights I just go bare legged.

Bare legged in winter?! I could never do that! I always just make sure to get a dress and find tights to wear with them.

The shoe thing... Hmm I could never do that. I need my feet nice and warm. If anything I might wear high top converse with wool socks, but that’s about it. I remember waiting for the bus in high school and my feet feeling so cold that they hurt. I always usually wear boots. It snows about 2-3 times a week on average during winter here. I bundle up. I’ve been very sensitive to cold lately; however, I do love the snow until about February or so.

.

All my pants are worn that way. Either with booties or sneakers. And I always have bare legs no matter the time of year if I’m wearing a dress/skirt.

Yep. I haven't froze to death yet. I don't walk for hours either though... just to the car and the office

I walk from home to work every day and this is what I wear exactly - sneakers, ankle socks, skinny ankle length pants. (boots of course in snow or heavy rain). It’s definitely not a great look for me but it’s just to get to the office comfortably. And nope it doesn’t make me any colder though my ankles are exposed Chat Icon

Re: Shoe question- is this a thing?

I do this with my slip on converse and booties, and I’ve never been more cold then if my ankle wasn’t showing. My legs/feet don’t get cold though, it’s more my arms that need to be covered and bundled.

I am one of the most hot-blooded people alive. I could wear a bathing suit in a blizzard and still be hot. A tiny strip of ankle won't make me cold. I only wear ankle length pants and flats so there is always some of my leg and foot showing Chat Icon

This is the way I am becoming as I get older and closer to menopause I guess? Chat Icon Or Peri menopause maybe.

But it's most prevalent leading up to my period. That week before I am like a g-d damn furnace!
It's awful.
The week before last I was running around on my lunch hour with no coat on. I couldn't take how hot I was getting in the car and walking to stores etc. And forget it wearing a huge coat in a store with the heat blasting and 400 people. Chat Icon
I must have looked like I was nuts but I didn't care.
So yeah, my skin showing on my ankle is probably a welcome thing LOL

Re: Shoe question- is this a thing?

I guess I’m just always cold. I used to be always warm, but that changed last year for some reason (I think because I lost a lot of weight). I’m also at that “age” and I always heard you get hot flashes, but I only get them at night and in the summer.

I do a lot of walking because I usually take public transport and then have to walk a bit to get to my job.

I guess I kind of like the look, but with adidas sneakers. I’ll try it out in the spring Chat Icon

It's funny because my DH used to be so hot all the time too and now that he lost a ton of weight, he is freezing all the time.
I actually laugh at how cold he gets now.
He also attributes it to the fact that he does intermittent fasting and they say that makes you colder as well. (there's some science behind it that i have no idea)
But it's definitely the weight loss too. Less insulation. Chat Icon

UGH I am dreading menopause. DREADING. I think I starting having hormonal changes in my body temp in my twenties, but having kids really did me in and I never went back to normal. I am exactly the same as you - I can't wear a coat when driving, in stores/mall, etc, only if I am outside for an extended period of time and even then it's iffy Chat Icon
