Like those boxed cards they sell in Target with stickers, tattoos, candy? My son is in 4th grade, wants to give something out but I think he is too old.

Target had 2pack Oreo Valentine's, so I got those this year.

I always end up throwing out all the junk they come home with.

It slowed down around 4-5th grade for full class exchanges. Then in middle school it was just a causal thing of sharing candy with a small group of friends..

I would only do it if the teacher ok’s it. Through elementary seems perfect.

Yes, the teacher will usually send a note home saying that if they want to exchange Valentine's or small candy it's encouraged and just make sure they have enough for everyone in class. And list any allergies- like no nuts please, etc

This! Elementary school they still do Valentine's and have a VDay party.
My son is in 4th grade and got the list of kid's names for his homeroom for the Valentine's party. Even though he switches classes for Math and ELA they still do some parties in homeroom like Halloween, winter break, VDay and end of year. I'm assuming 5th grade will be the last year bc in 6th he'll be in middle school.
I'm holding onto elementary school as long as I can. LOL! Still cute and fun (even if the work is harder). Middle school will be a big slap in the face. LOL

Re: Spin off : what age do you stop exchanging Valentines?

Just got the letter home last night and thought of this thread.
It said they will be having a party and they can bring in cards to exchange and please bring 24 , enough for the whole class.

So it's still alive and well in 3rd grade over here!

Same. My 4th grader came home with a list of all the kid's names for the Vday party and Valentine's.
BTW - I just went yesterday to Target to pick up the cards and there were hardly any!
Plus, I love how they only have 16 in a box when clearly a class has at least 20 kids.

Vday stuff was out before Christmas so there is probably scant stuff left.

I stopped in 2nd grade just out of pure laziness.

Yes! I grabbed a green shirt since next month it'll be wear green for St Patty's at school. Stores are ridiculous! Nothing for VDay in Feb, but plenty of green and I also saw Cadburry eggs too! LOL
