Party ideas for boys for just a handful of friends?
DS will be 8 and we're not going to do a class party but something for him and 5 other boys.
We are in western Suffolk but willing to travel.

Someone on my FB asked a similar question, and quite a few people recommended a"Mad Science" party. I personally have never been to one, but if you google "Mad Science Long Island", I think you can get a pretty good idea of what the party entails.

This! then go to lunch after. We've done numerous parties, scout events and just afternoon trips there, kids love it.
Mad Scientist is approximately $400 for a 45 minute show but they do a great job.

I was going to suggest the same. Kids have a blast there.

My kids have enjoyed escape room parties, video game truck parties, rock climbing/ninja parties and Nerf parties. They’ve done all of these with both small and large groups of friends.

My son has gone to a couple of small parties in the indoor go karting place and they loved it. I just had a party for my 11 year old...he had 8 friends sleep over and we went for hibachi and then they all came back to the house for a sleepless night of fun.

Ducks Game, they have a great birthday party package. I always say it is one of the least expensive (I think it was like $250 for up to 10 kids) yet BEST parties we ever had for my son!
Includes the game itself, food, tickets to the pitching game/booth, and make your own Kona ice and favors. Birthday kid also get a Tshirt, name on the board and gets to go down to the dugout and the stadium sings Happy Bday to them! We also booked it on a fireworks night so they had the fireworks too! It was awesome.
We had the parents drop the kids at our house and my husband, my dad and myself drove the kids there and then dropped them all at their homes after the game.

Re: Party ideas for boys for just a handful of friends?
Last year for my son's 9th birthday we had his best friends over to swim, drove them to hibachi and then they played basketball most of the night, had cake, watched a movie and slept over. It was exhausting! LOL
THis year for his 10th I'm taking them to the Rainforest Café, but no sleepover. LOL I'd rather them stay late and get picked up than deal with crying in the middle of the night, fights or accidents.
