National "whatever" Days
Where do they originate?
Because I'm pretty sure nobody woke up today knowing- today is September 25th- it's NATIONAL DAUGHTER DAY!
What I do believe happens is one person sees someone else posting about it and then, like a good sheep, they hop on the band wagon- not to be left out of course- and post a picture and some long diatribe about how they are mother of the year.
But SOMEONE must have originated this. And who is patient zero that knew that was today- all on their own- and started the bandwagon posting madness?
Do we have information on this? Is there a committee that sits in, Washington DC, perhaps, with a calendar and says this day shall be National Daughter Day, this day shall be National Dog Day, this day shall be National Margarita Day, this day shall be National Pancake day, this day shall be National Barbershop Quartet Day, etc etc etc?
And then they send it over to someone at Facebook who makes it so and all the masses just follow along?
Why though?

That's a great question, I have no idea. The only reason I find it at all entertaining is because randomly my boss will pick a date, we'll look up the "holiday" and get an ice cream cake to celebrate the holiday- obviously, we just want the delicious cake we get from Coldstone and use the "holiday" as an excuse lol.

There is a website that shows them all. Today is also National Cooking Day, National Lobster Day, National Comic Book Day, Better Breakfast Day and Heritage Day.
On another website they list:
September 25
National One-Hit Wonder Day
National Comic Book Day
National Lobster Day
National Tune-Up Day
National Research Administrator Day

I'm going to blame every holiday on Hallmark.
I worked in Hallmark through college. There was a woman who was annoyed we didn't have Groundhog's Day cards. So even Hallmark doesn't celebrate every holiday!

E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y apparently. Because everyone is constantly celebrating. 
ETA: As for National Daughter Day- it's one of those made up days, though I have no idea how or why. I think there's a "national _____ day" for every day of the year. Apparently National Son's Day is 9/28 so buckle up it's coming. 
Some really good ones that I've seen crop up recently...
National Margarita Day- 2/22
National Taco Day- 10/4
National Chicken Wing Day- 7/29
All my favorite national days have to do with booze or food.

Yes. Exactly that.
You don't really love your daughter then. You are a terrible mother. And CPS should be called.
Same as if you don't write a long, mushy post to wish your spouse or SO a Happy Birthday or Anniversary on Facebook even though you live with them and told them to their face.
Come on.
Get with the bandwagon jumping!

I have a daughter on FB. I didn't post anything about this yesterday. Neither did she for her daughter. Neither did my mom.

I want to do a social experiment actually. I want to post about something completely fictitious, like- In honor of National Love your Spouse day, here is 27 pictures and a long diatribe about my spouse!
And then see how many sheep start posting something similar and see how far it spreads. Even though I just completely made it up and pulled it out of my ass.
Just like the people who keep posting fake news over and over again without looking into it. Fear mongering, etc.
It's really scary actually....

I just post pics of my daughter all the time. Whenever I feel like it.
I don't need a special bandwagon day to do it.
And let's face reality- nobody knew yesterday was 'daughter's day'. They saw some other person posting and had to jump in on it.
Did anyone really wake up yesterday saying- yes, today is National Daughter's Day! Yay!

Same here! I take so many pictures of my kids that I sometimes don't post because I think I post too much! So I posted a few funny little shots of her from the summer yesterday. It doesn't hurt anyone.

My brother did something recently. His birthday is in Nov. He got a bunch of birthday wishes. 6 months later he changed his D.O.B on FB to that day. Everyone again posted Happy Birthday wishes
He texted me and see "just because it's on FB everyone thinks it's true". I was dying!
He also has a twin. And someone (who knows this) actually asked "why is your birthday today but J's is in Nov".
