Do you think about dying?
You know what really gets me...when a celeb dies.
Not because of "Im getting old because Luke Perry died" but the "wow, Luke Perry a rich celeb who has access to the best medical (and preventative) care died, what chance does a normal person have"
Also post apocalyptic movies....I've heard once that society is like 5 days away from break down (like if your area was cut off from electricity and food/supply delivery) especially us who live in an urban area (if you live in the woods you can fend for yourself better). Imagine something like "The Road" or "Book of Eli" or "Mad Max" people will be killing each other for supplies and other horrible things would be done to people

Re: Do you think about dying?
Im so sorry for everyone's losses.
I've thought about it alot over the years especially after my dad's death 2 years ago. Ive had to put one of my dogs to sleep, Ive buried birds, and fishes and wondered where the spirits of the animals go and how will I die. I had a personal experience after the c-section with my son 15 years ago as I was "slipping" away and was carted away and airlifted. I had some pain but I remember I hovered and took notice of everything including the other realm. I had the feeling if this is where we go then no wonder everyone looks so peaceful when they go.

My newest death obsession About when my dogs will die.
We just lost our dog on September 21st. Seeing my two kids, age 19 and 16, sob uncontrollably while holding each other really hit me hard. I think that may also be triggering these feelings lately. I hope you enjoy every moment with your doggies.
I'm so sorry and I can relate to this. I actually had to take my son to grief counseling after his favorite bird passed couple months ago. It helped him get over it. At the time he was out 2 days school depressed. So maybe try that. My dog was 20 years ago and it took me a couple years to get over it. We actually finally got a dog 2011.

Do you think about dying?
I lost my mom in when I was in my early 20s, before I had moved out on my own, gotten married and had my kids...so I think almost every day about whether or not I will be lucky enough to live long enough to see my children go through those milestones.

Re: Do you think about dying?
Yes. A lot.
Early Sept I thought I had no real health issues & had recently returned to work after having a baby in the spring.
Mid Sept I started having seizures but didn’t know that’s what they were, just full body scary events. Saw a neurologist, had MRI’s, found out I had a brain tumor bigger than a tangerine, which had such extensive swelling I needed it out ASAP.
So a few days after finding out about it and within a few weeks of having the first seizure, I was going in for a six hour brain surgery in late Sept. I had 22 staples across the back/top of my head. Thankful to God that the tumor was not cancer & the surgeon believes he got it all (all that he could see) but was a faster growing benign type so I will need frequent monitoring in case it returns. My dad died of aggressive brain cancer 11 years ago, and I’ve had an odd fear of brain tumors since I was a kid. To say this freaked me out is an understatement.
This experience made me realize I’m a mega wimp... people go through so much worse.
Life is uncertain. We don’t know at all what’s right around the corner or what may be going on in our own bodies.
Ultimately we’re all headed in the same direction.
I pray every day to live a long life with my husband and for both of us to see our children grow up and be there for them as adults.
So yeah I’ve always thought about death a lot but especially in the past month.
Some anxiety over here but when I start to worry I start to pray and that has helped tremendously.

It is one hell of a reality check, right?
You're not a wimp at all... what you went through especially knowing your father's medical history is enough to send anyone into a constant state of anxiety.
Have you found any support groups either local or online?
I recently joined a survivor group and have found it to be very beneficial in knowledge and support. Just having someone to talk to who has been through it can be incredibly beneficial.

Do you think about dying?
all the time. I'm an oncology RN (inpatient) and death is something pretty regular on my floor. Old and young (youngest is 18). Its something that forces me to think about it prob more than I should. It's not always an awful experience either which sounds weird...but Ive had patient pass so peacefully, some with smiles on their faces. But when I see a "bad" death it sticks with me for some time. It's made me discuss with my husband our wishes for what we would want done in certain situations. As a society we fight the thought of death, whereas in many other cultures its totally different. Interesting to me.

Re: Do you think about dying?
I try not to because it makes me have anxiety. My son has special needs and I always worry about what is going to happen to him when I pass.

This exactly. My mom passed away relatively young 2 weeks ago from lung cancer after a 3 year battle. She was admitted to hospital and passed within 24 hours. But she really died in the way she wanted. No interventions, as painless as possible. And the nurses on the inpatient oncology floor were AMAZING! I mean death sucks and it was my experience with it, but they really made it as comfortable as possible for all of us involved. While my mom made her wishes known about death, she did not have a will (didn’t like us planning for her death) and it’s so much more complicated than if she had a will. So to continue this morbid conversation please consider writing a will to make things easier for your loved ones.

Do you think about dying?
Since I’ve turned 40 it weighs on me more and more. My mom passed when she was 55 and was dad at 50 but he had his first heart attack when he was 37. It’s one of the reasons I was adamant I wanted to be a sahm mom till my youngest is in school FT. I missed out of so much with my oldest I didn’t want that to happen with my youngest. But on the other side I’m adamant that I’m going back to work FT when dd2 starts school as my mom fell apart when my dad passed. Yes, there was life insurance but my mom was lost. Dh has two scares this year. One with cancer the other with his heart. Thank God it was just scares but it put things in perspective. We have wills and hearty life insurance policies both inside and outside of work so luckily financially we would both be ok. Dh thinks I plan too much for death but he doesn’t and I have two small kids I need to think of.
