Jury Duty
I just received my jury duty summons in the mail... someone said that the letters on the summons means something. Is there a key somewhere that breaks down what each of the letters stand for? My juror number starts with an A (if that helps lol)!

Re: Jury Duty
I just had jury duty recently. I believe that the letter corresponds for the week of the month that you're called. So the first week of December is A, second is B, etc. The number next to that is what you really want to pay attention to. Fairly certain they start at 1001 and by the end of the week I've seen them go up to about 3000. The closer you are to 3000 the better your chances are of not having to go at all, but it depends on the caseload and just how many jurors they're looking for that week.

Yes. This is why when I get a summons I use my one deferral to defer it to a holiday week.. Thanksgiving week is a great week to defer it to. Or any week with a federal holiday like July 4th. The case load is less during holiday weeks. Right off the bat you are down to 4 days instead of 5 due to the holiday. So both times I have done that, and also lucked out with a highish number I haven't gotten called and then you are good for the next 4 or 6 years or whatever it is.

Re: Jury Duty
I did that too, and ended up with number 1011 haha I ended up having to go but we were actually all dismissed because the one case they had for the day was settled before they could choose the jury.

Yeah the number is the luck of the draw of course. But I figure I give myself a better chance on a week with one less day!
