How much do you spend on kids school friends birthday gifts?
Dd is in pre k and ds is in 3rd and has sports friends, too.
We are 6 wks into the year and we've been to 5 parties so far and I'm going broke, lol, with 2 more parties this month alone.
What is reasonable to spend?

Re: How much do you spend on kids school friends birthday gifts?
I usually spend $30 (I spend up to $60 on closer friends) but it does add up fast!
I used to feel like $20-$25 was standard but based on what I've seen I think people go cheaper.
When my DD had a birthday party last year, she def. got a ton of gifts that cost only $5-$10. But I'd rather she get a $5 gift card for ice cream or $5 cash or something like that over the $5 junk they were giving her.

$25 For a bestie... around $40
ETA: a popular trend in our area is to ask for donations to a large group gift. This is AWESOME
There is a point at which parties get to be too many... I just RSVP no. For us, we have 3 kids and would only be shuttling them around parties if we didn’t.

Usually $20-25 for a classmate. More like $30-40 for a close friend

I always give a $25 gift card to either Target, Amazon, or Fandango.

I'm cheap. For a classmate, I don't spend more than $10-$15 (most board games are $10 max). For close friends I'll spend way more than that.... $30-$40.

i usually spend about $25. I have boys, so i usually get them a $10 or $15 lego set or something, and then a $10 or $15 Target gift card so the kid can go pick out something themselves. my 3rd grade son had his party in november and most of his class was able to come. he got a bunch of $25 AMC Movie gift cards, which have been a great gift- gives us something to do on the weekends and stuff. i also usually give like a $10/ $15 Lego set or something, and then a $10 or $15 Target gift card so the kid can go pick out something for themselves, too...

Re: How much do you spend on kids school friends birthday gifts?
I'm going through this too as well- my DD is in pre-k and this is the first year where she has been getting invites to a bunch of parties for classmates, it seems one every week or every other week. The first few parties I gave $25 gc's but it has been adding up so lately I have been buying toys or books around $15-20. For family members like her cousins I will spend more. I have also been asking DD lately if she wants to go to the party or not.... A friend of mine was saying she tries to go to each classmates party for when she throws her DD's bday so then they will come, but If I do throw a party for my DD most likely it will be with her cousins (we have a lot of first cousins), and not classmates just because I can't afford to do both.

I usually spend $25. But when my kids were in PreK I gave pottery barn kids beach towels that I got on sale and used rewards to buy.

I’d say around $25 value, but I have a gift closet where I’ll tuck away things I got at a great deal and give them throughout the year (craft sets, games, Lego sets, etc) so I do save money that way.

This. And for the last two parties I had gifts here that hadn't even been opened yet by my kids that I gave to the birthday child. One was a duplicate of a game we already have, and the other was Barbie stuff that my daughter received and she had a TON of Barbie stuff that she doesn't even play with now. Gave it all away....

I try to stay under $20. Lately, everyone gets Legos. Sometimes I’ll find great deals on clearance - like a TMNT toy for $6, originally $30 or a $9 Barbie, originally $30. We just bought a $60 soccer goal for $15 so that’ll be someone’s gift in the near future.
