On a TOTALLY different subject....
I was watching some entertainment show the other day and they mentioned that Prince Harry & Meghan would be buying a house in LA and are planning on living there. OK, good for them...whatever. I have absolutely nothing against them, and wish them well (not that I am all that interested in what they do at all, for the most part). But, it made me wonder, isn't Harry an immigrant? How can he just move here without getting the proper visas or whatever you would need to establish proper residency? Or does he have to go through all the regular channels (although I would imaging he would receive special treatment and be expedited) to establish residency in the US?

Re: On a TOTALLY different subject....
i want to say that i heard they already did some paperwork... that's part of the reason they were in canada for a while before coming out here.
also, he's married to an american, which does help his case.
and... he's not going to put a "burden" on the system. clearly, he has enough money to pay his own way and he won't be needing welfare or food stamps or medicaid.
like you said, he'll be treated differently than us mere mortals lol.
there have been local stories on the news about how they are already delivering meals to the needy.

Re: On a TOTALLY different subject....
If you are wealthy enough you can buy citizenship in many countries. Basically, it involves parking a million or so into a bank, and agreeing that you will not become a burden on the government. In some countries you also need to say you will employ others. So if they start a “charity” and employ 10 of her friends and family he can get citizenship in the US. He can legally stay in the US on a green card. He is married to a US citizen so that will help him too.https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/globe-wealth/article-yes-you-can-buy-your-way-into-us-citizenship/

I can't imagine he would want to become a citizen (or at least that he would want to give up his British citizenship), but just that he would have to live here legally (green card or whatever), but from everything I've heard, it can take YEARS for a regular person (even married to a US citizen) to get a green card.
But that's an interesting article. Thanks

Yes, money talks...plus they obviously have tons of proof that their marriage is real LOL if they are going the spousal visa route. Then he’ll get a 10 year green card. I’m not sure how it is with the UK, but some countries allow dual citizenship. It took dh & I 13 months from start to finish to get his spousal visa. Luckily he can get dual citizenship in a few years.

Isn't his wife American? I don't think she had to renounce her citizenship to marry him so that alone probably makes it easy for him to set up residency here. That and the fact he's a wealthy royal probably bypasses the standard protocols.
