Re: Those that pay Flood Insurance???
Flood zones areas tend to be costly and esp if you are required to cover ur house at the $250k max coverage. A policy can run around $1600/a yr...give or take.

Re: Those that pay Flood Insurance???
I live in Farmingdale. It use to flood in the 50's and 60's but not anymore. It is included in our home owners policy and for everything we pay I think $775.

Just out of curiosity...who are you insured with? Most if not all HO companies are excluding flood.

Flood insurance is always a separate insurance policy. It's offered through the Gov'ts National Flood Insurance Program but, is written by different insurance companies (two of the largest are State Farm and Allstate).

I know that, but the poster said she has it covered under her HO policy.

Re: Those that pay Flood Insurance???
FLOOD is not covered under a home policy, ever.
The previous poster I believe had an endorsement that covered her water loss...which isnt necessarily flood. Why she was covered. SHe is also in CT which can change things a bit. Every state is different.
Flood ins is only issued through an ins company like SF or Allstate etc and provided by FEMA.

Again...I understand that...it's the Farmingdale poster... Hence...the question.
I do work in insurance and understand SF, Allstate, Travelers...flood carriers...through FEMA.
ETA: Ok...no matter how many times I read what I wrote...it's sounds really nasty...I don't mean it that way.

Re: Those that pay Flood Insurance???
im pretty sure Seles81 doesnt need flood insurance, its probably an optional coverage thing. my mom's house in fdale doesnt need it. i grew up in fdale, ive never seen floods, except when everyone's basement flooded like two years ago.
