My C-section and experience at Winthrop Hospital...
first off..
I HAD MY BABY!!! Kennedy Rose born 8/06/08 at 1:06 pm weighing in at 8lbs 7oz which was quite close to the sonograms' prediction.. Born by c-section. As some of you may remember, I was pretty freaked out by the idea and cried a whole lot about the idea of being cut and the surgery and all.. well let me just say this.. after having an induced vaginal delivery with episiotomy and a c-section.. i choose c-section..
it was a CAKE WALK.. i had my reg doctor and he had one of his hand picked colleagues-a doctor from another practice attending with him so no worries about first year interns or residents.. the nurses were all wonderful, caring, and professional, my room was clean bright and comfortable. and two days after my c-section.... i am at home, resting in my own house.. (well my mom's house.. my house in PA)
everything went smoothly. the only thing that hurt honestly was the spinal block (very similiar to an epidural) after that, i felt tinglin in my toes -like when your feet fall asleep) and then i felt nothing. the entire procedure was completely painless and then afterwards i was able to see my baby as i waited in recovery. they took her up to the nursery to be checked out while i continued to recover and when i finished recovering they moved me to my room. that evening they put me in a chair and Thursday i got up and started walking. today my doc came in and asked me if i wanted to go home this evening and i jumped at the chance.. so after finishing all of my dinner (yes the food was good too.. lol. i had london broil and salmon with dill dressing today) we packed it up to go home. the only negative i must report is the length of time it took to get a wheelchair for discharge. GRRR.. it literally took over an hour.. but my main nurse, her name was Karen W. (for ladies delivering at winthrop) was AMAZING.. she was so knowledgeable and kind, and caring and considerate.. if you can request a nurse.. i'd say ask to be placed in her wing.. she was THAT good..
now i am sore i won't lie.. , and it hurts when i cough or laugh.. but i can walk and it is bareable and compared to the labor and the episiotomy.. it's MUCH better imo..so to the ladies who will be soon delivering via c-section or delivering at winthrop, or delivering via c-section AT winthrop.. lol. congrats and good luck!!!
that all being said, here is a picture of my newest addition..
KENNEDY ROSE...

thanks!! this is really why i posted it.. for others who have to have a c-section or others who will be delivering at winthrop. i was literally up at night crying about the prospect of a c-section birth, the surgery.. anethesia etc.. it was a lot.. a WHOLE LOT easier than I thought it would be.. i didn't give all of hte details only because it would have turned this into a book, but if anyone would like more specifics please feel free to fm me..
wish you all luck!

First Congrats, and I LOVE her name!
To Akajt98 - everyone is different but nearly 8 months later DH and I still think I took the easy route because my c-section was a great experience and I had a pretty easy recovery. SO as someone too who cried about deciding to do a section instead of a v-birth! Dont worry, all that matters is the happy healthy baby at the end!
ETA: for me the worst pain was getting the IV. worse than the spinal by far!!!! And I had DS on 12/20, was on pain meds that day, until 7am on the 21st, took a perkoset (no clue as to the spelling) and never took more than a motrin after that. Went home on the 23rd, and never took another pain med!
