Another feeding/sleeping question...

I'm not sure if this goes hand in hand with each other, but DD is confusing me to no end. I know that to get any kind of consistency out of a newborn is just wishful thinking, I'm just so frustrated at this point I don't know what to do.

DD is 5 weeks today. She used to be able to take 3 ounces of formula, no spit up and sleep for three hours no problem in her bassinet. For the past two weeks, she has been now only taking 2-3 ounces and feeding every two hours, and has started to spit up a few times. Not *every* bottle but some feedings. I'm confused because she is actually taking in less formula than previously. I try to burp her in at the 2 oz. mark. Most of the time, she does not burp, or it takes her forever to burp, like, I need to lay her down for 10 to 15 minutes, she'll cry and then I'll pick her up and she'll burp. She sucks very hard on the nipple, and cries because she is pushing gas out at the same time. I take the bottle out to burp her, and she's crying because she wants to eat. She also cries when we lay her in the bassinet now. She'll sleep only for a little while and then be up again crying. She naps great in the swing or bouncy seat.

We've been using Dr. Brown's bottles since DD came home from the hospital but we also have Born Free ones on the side. DH thinks we should change her bottle but I'm not sure that's it.

Is this a sign of reflux out of no where? Should I change her to Level 2 nipples even though she's only 5 weeks? Should I switch to Born Free bottles? I'm so confused at this point and I feel like I can't help her at all.

Thanks for any suggestions.

ETA she has been on Similac sensitive for about 3 weeks now.

Re: Another feeding/sleeping question...

dd had a similar-ish thing. she's EBF but a week after she came home from the hospital she started getting really gassy, not sleeping well (preferring to sleep being held - which she still does now, but she couldn't sleep laying down before), wanting to feed/suck all the time (more for comfort than out of hunger), spitting up more, and crying every time she pooped/passed gas. after she started getting green mucusy poops i took all dairy out of my diet and she's back to the happy baby she was before. maybe try a dairy-free formula or something? it's definitely worth bringing up to the ped for any ideas he/she might have.
