anyone anemic?
I before was considered slightly anemic and had bloodwork done earlier this week while at the doctor since I've been so sick and feeling tired.
He said my hemoglobin has dropped a lot and its now 7.9 two years ago it was 9.8. I have never taken iron pills because I know it can affect your stomach but now I have no choice.
Which do you take?

I believe Goldi is anemic and she's taking iron pills. I was anemic my entire life (infancy up to when I got pregnant and then remarkably, it just disappeared), but I never needed iron pills.

Re: anyone anemic?
I've been anemic forever. I usually just take a daily multivitamin with iron. If I'm feeling unusually tired I will take a supplement too, but only temporarily.

Re: anyone anemic?
I was serverly anemic, do to a fibroid that needed to be removed. I don't recall what my numbers were but iron pills didn't even help bring them up. One dr didn't want to do the surgery because of it. I found one that would do it. Had the surgery in June, needed a transfusion but I feel so much better. Haven't had any problems since.

doc actually told me to make an appt. with my gyno to rule out any fibroids or ny other probs. i've had cysts in the past and have had heavy menstrual cycles but not all the time. he says that could be a factor as well.

I had a very heavy cycle for most of my life, never knew anything about fibroids. Only found out I had one in 2005. Didn't have the surgery till 2007. Definitely check with your gyno, there may be a connection.

Re: anyone anemic?
I have been anemic or borderline anemic for most of my life. I have taken SlowFe and Feosol. Neither one is easy to tolerate. I take Colace with it and that helps. I have had fibroid surgery and that helped with some other symptoms but not so much with anemia. I lost a lot of blood during the surgery, so it was tough for me to build back up.
