Asking for a friend: How would you go about getting dental work done by a dental student?

My friend has 13K of dental work in front of him and he wants to try and find a dental school that would do the work for him. Has anyone had this done? Where did you go? Any info. would be helpful! Thanks!

I haven't, but I know the Stony Brook dental school takes patients. Not sure how far you are from SB but here's the link:

If it's $13K to me it means "MAJOR" dental work so I will say no. I would want someone experienced, not a student.

My DH has had work done at the SB Dental school (we have dental insurance, but it runs out) and he has never had an issue

No, i would not, maybe if it was not major work. I have had too many terrible experiences w/ a certain dentist and feared the dentist for along time, till I found a great dentist( Thank you
Blu-ize for the great dental recomendation) . That said, I would rather pay it off and know I was going to someone I trusted and did great work. JMHO

Def try Stony Brook. Obviously they are not going to have a 1st year dental student do "major work." They have students who are about to graduate do the more involved treatments. Will save him a ton of $$$.

How about asking your dentist for a recommendation? I'm sure they know where you could receive the best care.
