advice for tomorrow.......
We're scheduled to have p/t conferences tomorrow. If the weather is really bad but the conferences are still scheduled to continue, is there anything I can do? I travel about 45 mins and REALLY afraid of driving in a snow storm!
ETA: We are supposed to have conferences until 9pm

Ew, until 9?? What time is your last appt? If you are done before the end, I know principals usually make you stick around, but if it's getting bad, and you're done, perhaps you can talk to them since you have a significant commute?

That would be a good idea but the way it runs in my school is.. there are no appointments.. we are there till 9 and wait for parents to show up..
I'm really hoping they just cancel!!!

I'm in the same boat. I take the train but we are supposed to get a lot at home and I have to drive home from the train. Honestly, if it's that bad I am going to leave. My principal is understanding, fortunately. Attendance at Feb. conferences is always light anyway, and with the weather being so bad? I am going to write a letter with all my contact info (email, etc.) for my kids to take home to their parents should I end up leaving before the evening conf.

Wow, I have the same problem for tomorrow and I am 37 weeks pregnant!
I hope they postpone it or better yet cancel all together!
Maybe we can keep each other updated, I wonder if it is a decision for Klein or the individual school. I am assuming you are in NYC.

My colleague and I were wondering the same thing- who calls the shots on afterschool and conferences. Then again, I have seen Klein be more open to after school cancellations than full day ones.

Yea, I'm not sure.. though I really do  that if it's bad out, they'll just reschedule!! They have to figure too that if the weather is lousy, less parents will show up....

We rescheduled our evening conferences for next Thursday.
The afternoon conferences was a joke. I only had about 15 parents show. That's nothing since I have about 150 students.
The communte home wasn't to bad. It seemed as if if was just raining in Nassau but now the big flakes have appeared.
I hope your principal resceduled as well!
