First week of school and it starts!! Check DD's hmwrk and her paragraphs were written sloppy. I tell her she has to rewrite it and the tears start to flow. I simply ask why are you crying, she said...everyone elses parents don't care what their homework looks like, as long as it's done. I'm the only kid that has to have neat homework.

WELL, miss cynthia...I CARE, NOW REWRITE IT!

Oh Hannah pulls the exact same thing on me. Thank god she has only had math honework so far. She will be starting cursive writing again soon, that's when we'll have trouble.

My oldest gives me the same cr*p about evvvvvvvverything. "Our family is WEIRD!" According to him every other family lets their kids watch TV and play video games for hours on end - and they all stay up until 11 at night and are allowed to eat anything they want all day, everyday. No other kid in the world has chores either. And school? NOBODY else re-checks homework or writes notes to the teacher or calls other parents to ask about assignments. And NOBODY else makes their kid re-do work when it's wrong or sloppy. And every other parent in the world packs their kid's backpacks for them and makes sure that all assignments are neatly tucked in so that their kid doesn't have to do i. It's a veritable party if you live anywhere except our house!

DW made DS rewrite some of his homework last night since it was much sloppier than we know he can do. He keeps saying he wants to write faster. Of course, we tell him that speed comes last. After accuracy and neatness....

We're also teaching him cursive so he has a head-start on the rest of his class. He's in 2nd grade.

I think his cursive is more legible than mine!
