what kind of doctor...
i think i am having some sort of reaction. about 8:30 i had some vanilla ice cream, and i am really itchy now. my inner ears itch, i have red splotchy spots on my chest and back. and my neck really itches. this has happened before, and from what i can recall, after eating dairy, or things with dairy in it. (i think that may be the culprit.) this is the most uncomfortable i have been. yet, not enough for me to rush to the er.
what kind of doctor do i go see? allergist? internist? GI doc?
any good recs for doctors associated with winthrop?
thanks for any replies!
would benadryl be ok to take for the itching??
ETA i feel tingling too...

I would take some Benadryl. If the itching gets worse, or if you have trouble breathing, maybe call your regular doc and see if he has an emergency line or something. They could advise you if you have to go to the hospital or just see the doc tomorrow.
Feel better!!

Re: what kind of doctor...
I have a casein (dairy) allergy and what you're describing sounds like a "minor" anaphylactic reaction. You should call an allergist today & set up an appt. for skin testing asap. This will let you know how severe it is & they can educate you on what to avoid & how to treat reactions. You will probably also need an epi-pen. I hope that you're feeling better (and that you took some Benadryl!). Please feel free to FM me if you have any questions

I'm quite the expert on tingling/burning/stinging/swelling allergic reactions DEFINITELY take the benadryl and sleep it off.
I go to an allergist right up 135 in Syosset and I had a lot of success with him.

I would go to an allergist.
I was having some issues with an allergy where I was being affected around the eye area... I went to the dermatologist and he was able to test me for a bunch of different things.
In this case though, since it's more food related I would go to an allergist and tell him what you think is causing it. They can test you for specific allergens.
