WW PointsPlus questions regarding your daily points:
I have lost 54 pounds on WW - the old program. I took a little hiatus (gained 2 pounds) and didn't really start the new program until last Friday, so today was my first weigh in on the new program. I lost .4 pounds. I was strict the entire week...even ate less than my daily 29 points simply because I wasn't hungry. I love that fruit is free now, and I find myself eating more of it than ever before, but here are my questions....
1. While I appreciate WW now taking carbs and protein into account when calculating points, how can they not use calories? Doesn't it come down to calories in vs. calories out?
2. How do your points not go down? I want to lose another 30 pounds. How am I going to lose 30 pounds by eating 29 points for however long it takes me to drop that weight?
3. How do I get the same number of daily points as someone 20 pounds less than me and it still be expected for us both to lose weight?
4. I understood having to eat all of your points on the previous program because as you lost weight your points diminished, so if you were already eating less than your allotted points you could potentially hit a plateau. Do I HAVE to eat all my points now even if they will never go down?
I meant to ask these questions in my meeting this morning, but I got there late and had to leave right after weigh in to catch a train.
Thanks for the help!!

Re: WW PointsPlus questions regarding your daily points:
1. As far as the calories go...food that tends to be high in fat and carbs usually has higher calories, therefore I think that would allow them to eliminate using calories in the formula. Most of the lower points food I eat is low in calories as well.
2/3. If you think about the old plan had a minimum as well (18 points) after that they wouldn't go down either. Since you're already at the lowest they won't go down. I think its hard to judge results because the plan hasn't been out too long. As far getting the same number points- I still don't understand this...I think alot of members struggle with this question as well. If you ask WW reps they pretty much just tell you that WW has a formula they use to calculate the points. Not everyone has the same number of points but a large majority do get 29 points.
4. As far as eating all your points- WW will tell you that you should. My POV: if you're hungry eat them, if you're not don't. Some people were expressing they were eating their points just to eat them. Listen to your body.

I am on the same page. I don't have much to lose but it is just not coming off. I am following the plan carefully. In 4 weeks I think I lost 1 pound, vs the old plan where I would lose 1 pound a week.

1. While I appreciate WW now taking carbs and protein into account when calculating points, how can they not use calories? Doesn't it come down to calories in vs. calories out? --Calories are technically taken into account, just not in the actual mathematical formula. Foods higher in carbs and fat are also higher in calories. Remember also however, not all calories are created equal. A banana has 100 calories and so does a 100-calorie pack of keebler cookies. But although they are both 100 calories, the banana is obviously a more nutritious choice.
2. How do your points not go down? I want to lose another 30 pounds. How am I going to lose 30 pounds by eating 29 points for however long it takes me to drop that weight? --As Colleen pointed out, 29 is the new 18. So it's no different than if you had gotten down to 18 on Momentum.
3. How do I get the same number of daily points as someone 20 pounds less than me and it still be expected for us both to lose weight? --Daily PP target are not just based off of weight.......they also take height, age, and gender into account as well. So maybe it's someone who's 20 pounds less, but 10 years older......therefore, the bodies work differently.
4. I understood having to eat all of your points on the previous program because as you lost weight your points diminished, so if you were already eating less than your allotted points you could potentially hit a plateau. Do I HAVE to eat all my points now even if they will never go down? --It is recommended to eat all of your daily PP target. If you're following the good health guidelines and suggested PP breakdown, you'll find it's actually not that difficult to get the daily target in.

I shoudln't be at the lowest target yet because I have more than a small amount of weight to lose.

Re: WW PointsPlus questions regarding your daily points:
I find that with the new program I am eating more nourishing meals and not using my points for snacks. How are you spreading out your points? Are you eating enough protein points as opposed to carb points?

The problem I have with this though is if you're not at your goal weight. If you were down to 18 points on the Momentum program then you were at goal weight, or pretty close to it. There are people that need to lose 30-40 pounds that have 29 points. I also don't quite understand how it could be the same amount of points as somebody who needs to lose 10.
I'm still not completely in love with the new program. There are certain things that I love about it but then there are things I don't love. I do feel that it is a healthier program to be on and it will keep the weight off longer. But my personal feeling is that it's not going to be another 13 years before they make a major change to the program again.
