? for those who had empty sac
i was told i had an empty sac at 5 and 6 weeks pg. I've opted to wait it out and m/c on my own rather than get a d&c. my question is, how long did u wait to m/c if u did it naturally or did you get a d&c. I have no miscarriage symptoms as of now (except I had some 1 sided cramping yesterday, but i thnk it may have been gas since it went away after i attempted to go to br). i still have my pregnancy symptoms and part of me wants to hold off on a d&c because i'm scared to have one, and for the little hope I have that the dr may be wrong or my dates are off (but my dr doesnt think that's the case). any insight would be appreciated, tia

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
I went for a sonogram about a week ago and they saw an empty sac. I had been having pretty bad cramps and spotting, though. I would wait it out another week or two and see what happens.

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
I got a BFP the beginning of january. I went for a sonogram and there was a sack but that was it. My hormone levels weren't good and my dr pretty much said it wasn't a viable pregnancy. She preferred I wait to miscarry on my own and not have the D&C. It took about another week to confirm that this was not a viable pregnancy. I waited another 2 weeks until I couldn't take it anymore and scheduled the D&C.

my 1st HCG was 4100 and my 2nd was 10500 which I hoped would be promising after losing my last 2 pregnancys. Anyway, like you I don't know how much more i'll be able to take. It's been a week and my emotions are all over the place, and the fact that I still feel pregnant makes it worse. I'm going to *try* to stick it out for 2 more week and see what happens

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
I would wait. 5w 6d is kind of early to see anything. I had an empty sac at my 8w appointment and it took about another 2-2 1/2 weeks for me to begin m/c on my own. I did not want a d&c and I'm glad that I waited for my body to take care of it on its own. Many and to you.

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
Oh no I am so sorry to hear this - hugsss.
I would say to give it another week or two - I don't want to give you false hope but you just never know. Get another sono and then go from there. But personally I would get the d&c by 8 weeks if you don't see anything. Have you had a d&c before or were your other losses natural?
My story is we saw an empty sac at 6, 7 and 8 weeks, I pretty much knew it was over at 7 weeks but had them check one more time at 8 weeks. (And even had 1 last sono before my d&c at 8 weeks 4 days.) I started bleeding on my own at 8 weeks - even though my sac measured 5.5 weeks...so my body held on for another 2.5 weeks but I have heard your body can hold even longer than that. My hormone levels are still high, 15,000 but like I said I started bleeding on my own...however I could not take the cramping every day as well as the bleeding, clots, and constant running to the bathroom so I had the d&c to finish the job. Some people bleed for 2-3 weeks I just could not handle that emotionally or physically so I got the d&c. Sorry I am not trying to scare you...it is your decision to wait it out. I would get another sono at 7-8 weeks and then make a decision. Again so sorry you are going through this. FM me if you want to chat more.

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
I started bleeding on February 5th. I was almost 7 weeks by my calculations. I had a sono that day and saw an empty sac. The tech told that maybe I was just earlier than I thought.
I kept on bleeding, my numbers kept going down, and at the next sono the sac was gone. I was given Cytotec to help things along. This actually did the opposite and pretty much stopped my bleeding (and gave me diarrea)
I bled throughout February and early March. At around March 6th (one month later) the bleeding stopped but there was blood on the toilet paper when I wiped. On March 8th I started to bleed again. Heavier than the last round of bleeding but not a ton. I assumed this was my period. On Saturday March 12th I was gushing and had horrible cramping. I ended up passing the sac this day (confirmed by my doctor)
The doctors office couldn't believe that it was the sac since all of my sonos since had been clean and I tested negative on a pregnancy test in their office. The sac was hanging out inside me somewhere
It was a very long process - about six weeks - but I chose that over the D&C because I was really petrified of it for some reason. Give your body some time. I don't want to give you false hope but maybe you will see a heartbeat. Hang in there, we are all here for you!

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
thank you all! my last m/c was around 8 weeks and the day i started bleeding/cramping i passed the sac (the hours leading up to passing it was horrible pain and bleeding but it subsided almost instantly after sac passed) and had very light bleeding after that for about 6 days. anyway, as of now, no cramping or m/c signs. i think i'm about 7 weeks and will possibly call next week for an appointment for the following week if nothing happens on my own. i'm still praying for a miracle, but for some reason my dr said this isn't viable since my 5 week u.s being that my hcg was over 10000 and we saw nothing. the office has called me twice asking if i've m/c yet, it's very disheartening and i'm in tears everytime they call. i know they are preparing me but it seems very cold! i'm thinking about going elsewhere For another u.s if i need one.

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
The one thing I learned from going through this is that the doctors office is very cold and nonchalant about a miscarriage. I truly thought I would have gotten some sympathy every time I called but I didn't. It is very routine for them and they see it all the time unforunately - I still think they should treat every miscarriage patient as if it's their first. Once I got past the receptionists the doctors and nurse practitioners were very nice.
If you don't feel comfortable with them going forward you should switch though
I am praying for a miracle for you!!! I wouldn't let them do a D&C until they knew for sure it was a miscarriage (see SunflowerJess's story)
Lots of prayers for you!!

Re: ? for those who had empty sac
I went to the doctor at 7wk 2days and they said it was an empty sac. I had already started bleeding. Within 1 full day I was full out bleeding and cramping. Mine went pretty smooth. I had decided if I didn't start mc'ing by the following day I was taking the medication they offered me to start the process. I knew I couldn't handle it. I am so sorry for your loss.
