I understand being annoyed at the reasoning BUT I have to say that I know a few households that would benefit from having this kind of policy in their child's school!

Many of the moms I know would hide this information from the dads, which is totally unfair and sends the wrong message IMO - so I see where the teacher is coming from!

I have to agree. I really don't think it is a big deal. I don't see it is as them telling me how parent. They just want another signature. Not really any different to me than a form that requires 2 signatures.

I will also say that, I wish my brothers school had this policy because I know my mom doesn't tell my dad everything and he should know.

I think if a family doesnt communicate with one another for whatever reason, it is not the schools place to intervene. To me thats all family dynamics that families need to resolve, not the school system.

I'm a (newly) single mother. It would annoy the h*ll outta me to call my xh to ask him to come over & sign off because apparently, our child's teacher doesn't think MY authority sufficient. Not approrpiate Chat Icon

IDK how I feel...I dont think its a big deal, but Im not there yet either...

I think having both parents sign; shows the child that BOTH parents along with the school are a TEAM....

Even if you and DH are already a team at home; reinforcing your teamwork along with the school is very important.
