Philly Half - Training Questions

Hey Ladies

I know there are a few of you running Philly in November. Two questionsL

1. When will you start your training?
2. What program are you using? I've used Hal Higdeon for the LI Half...just curious what else is out there.

I'm trying to decide if I want to run a half this fall or wait until the spring.

TIA!

Re: Philly Half - Training Questions

12 weeks is enough time if you have a good base - 16 if you need to build your base. That's around the last week of August.

I have to modify mine, since I am still pregnant...I won't start running/training until last week of Sept/first week of Oct. That's definitely cutting it short, but I just want to get back into it.

You can look at runners world, cool running, jeff galloway, or some of the big running clubs: nyrr, team in training, etc

good luck!

i'm debating running this race too. i'm starting to train for the cow harbor 10k this weekend and so hopefully already be in pretty good running shape by the time i would want to start training for the half. i liked hal higdon and will probably stick with him :)

Re: Philly Half - Training Questions

When I did the Philly Half last year I started training in Aug. (I was actually training for Diva in Oct and Philly). I actually didn't follow ANY plan. I pretty much did my own thing- making sure to get in at least one long (slow) run per week. Then throughout the week I alternate my distances and included crosstraining.
