OMG First ear infection and its bad :(

My poor baby. I have a 3 year old Golden who LOVES to swim in our pool. I noticed 2 days ago he didnt get up off the couch to greet me when I got home. I thought maybe it was due to the heat. Yesterday when I got home I noticed the same thing. I then called him to go outside and he was running his face along the bricks trying to scratch it. Turns out he has a bad ear infection and was trying to itch it and ended up scraping his skin off his face to get to his ear. He is SUCH a mess, the ear goo I have to put it leaks out onto his coat. Hes sticky and stinky and has the collar of shame on. $275 later and a lot of meds, washes, drops etc. I feel so bad :( Hoping it goes away. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips of preventing it besides ear cleaning and drying? I do not want him to go through this again. They even shaved his cheek :(

Poor baby

My puppy loves to swim as well (he's also a retriever) and recently had an ear infection. We've just been cleaning out his ears every time he goes in the pool. He hates it, but he's been much better since.

Poor thing. Kane has one now and I feel soo bad for him!!

Poor baby! Retrievers are notorious for ear problems. I would just clean his ears after he goes in the pool
