Block party menu.

My SIL just had a block party and we had chips and dip, hero, cold salads, ziti, burgers and dogs. Not too exciting but it did the trick.

Re: Block party menu.

I like the idea of something like sausage and peppers. It goes far and it's so easy to make.

Block party menu.

DH's cousin just had a bbq and they had sliders (both regular burger sliders and chicken sliders), mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, chicken fingers, fries and salad. Instead of grilling everything, they pretty much just ordered trays to make it all easier for everyone.

Re: Block party menu.

Last year at our block party I did sliders, sausage and peppers and wings. Pasta salad and regular salad. Plus a bunch of chips/dips and a veggie platter. Fruit salad and a bunch of desserts that people brought.

Block party menu.

I'm so happy to see this posted b/c our block party is next month and DH is inviting everyone we know! I don't want him to be stuck at the grill all day and I'd rather not have to set up sternos. I like the idea of just ordering heros and salads.

Re: Block party menu.

my parents have a block party and they do not like to bbq with so many guests. so they order a hero and then my sister and i make salads that the deli does not supply.

This year I think I am just doing heroes, salads and chips...its hard to have fun when I am running around worrying about the food, so I am going to try to keep it simple.

After reading this thread, I am thinking of doing the same thing.

Re: Block party menu.

We participate and help run our block party every year.

It's a TON of work, but we enjoy it.

A bunch of our neighbors do the heros/salads thing and sit back & enjoy.

DH loves to BBQ, so he does a ton of meats: Burgers, Hot dogs, Chicken/Pork Skewers, chicken, sausage.
I prepare most of my sides the night before/early morning. We set everything up early and have guests come around 2PM. From 3PM & on, we have all the rides/activities, so I do enjoy myself.

Re: Block party menu.

Thank you everyone.
I think I am going to do this:

Chips/dips
Heroes I think I am going to do chicken with mozzarella. nothing ever goes as much as this does.
cold salads
baked ziti or a cold pasta
Chicken nuggets for kids
French fries for kids
and desserts.

Any idea on how much hero for about 30 people?
