Blood pressure medication questions....

I've been on a low dose of hydrchlorithiazide for about 7 months now successfully. BP went from 150/95 to 110/70 and maintaining there. We are starting TTC so my ob/gyn suggested talking to my gp about either trying to go off or switching to Labetalol.

Has anyone taken Labetalol? Thoughts on it? Also, has anyone successfully stopped taking bp meds altogether?

I've been on labetalol a little over a year. Started mid-way through my pregnancy last year and I am still on it now - and my baby was born in February.

I didn't normally have high BP, it started with pregnancy. I am on a super high dose of the labetalol because it is the only thing I can take until I wean from breastfeeding. I take 400 mg 3x a day!

I don't go back to my cardiologist until January, at which point we see what the next step is. My BP on the meds is about 115-125 over 85-90, so it's still a little high when it comes to the bottom number, especially with the meds.

I don't have any side effects that I know of. I would love to see if I can stop taking them all together, but my cardioloisit won't wean until my lower numbers come down.
