WW Questions, and general weight loss...anyone that can answer these??
I have never done it before, but I am seriously considering it...
Do you have to join a gym, or work out a lot for it to be effective?
Do you still feel as though what you were eating made you full?
What is an achievable goal to set do you think? Like x lbs in x months?
Do you think you WW online is as effective as going to the meetings?
And...how much did you pay? I called yesterday, and got three different answers.
Any other info you would like to share would be great!
Thanks so much!

I like WW a lot. 1- it helps, and they encourage it, but no, you don't have to work out a lot for it to be effective. You are supposed to count "activity points" when you work out, but you can also count housework, steps, etc. 2- You have a lot of control over what you eat, and how you "spend" your points. You can use them so you are eating lots of food or only a little, depending on how calorie dense they are. So yes, I feel full on program. 3- You are supposed to loose btwn .5- 2 lbs per week, and they start you off with 10% of your current weight, generally. 4- No, I think meetings are more effective. But online is OK too. 5- Not sure how much it costs... look around the web and see if there are any deals going on.

I have done WW twice. Honeslt- trying to figure out point values all the time made me get sick of it quickly. I only did online, not the meetings. I would recommend working out a couple times a week, just to keep some lean muscle, but it's not necessary to lose weight. At first, you may feel hungry because you need to get used to smaller portions. Concentrate on high protein and good fats to keep you feeling full. An acceptable weight loss goal would be 1-2 pounds a week, unless you have a significant amount to lose. Then it would probably be higher for awhile.
I highly reccomend myfitnesspal.com
It's free, very similar to WW, only you count calories and they calculate all your other macros (protein/fat/carbs/etc) for you. They have an enormous database so it is very much the same logging experience as WW. I prefer it 100%.

I lost 60lbs on WW. I'm currently working on "re-losing" 20 lbs I gained while pregnant. I also work as a receptionist for WW.
Do you have to join a gym, or work out a lot for it to be effective? Nope. You don't have to work out at all, although activity is highly encouraged AND it will help speed along the process. The idea is just to move more. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park your car further away, take the dog for a walk, etc. Every bit helps.
Do you still feel as though what you were eating made you full? Not full, but satisfied. The idea is you don't want to be stuffed or uncomfortable. You work on finding that happy medium where you are satisfied.
What is an achievable goal to set do you think? Like x lbs in x months? WW recommends 1/2 lb to 2lbs a week. Generally, most people lose more the first week. If you have more to lose, you will probably see a greater weight loss each week.
Do you think you WW online is as effective as going to the meetings? This is a personal preference. I prefer meetings- they hold me more accountable.
And...how much did you pay? Monthly pass is $42.95 (includes meetings and e-tools), pay as you go is $14/week (no e-tools).

Re: WW Questions, and general weight loss...anyone that can answer these??
I have done WW twice in the past -- the first time I lost 40 lbs and kept it off for 3 years (until I got pregnant with my DS). Then, after my pregnancy, I lost 45 lbs with WW. Now, I am back on the program again, trying to lose about 20-25 lbs that have crept back on since I made a big career change.
I never joined a gym. The first time I lost weight I did it by following the food plan alone. After having my son, I started incorporating Stroller Strides, zumba, and I think I lost more quickly and looked more toned. But I think exercise is just a plus - it is definitely good for your health and can help speed weight loss and help you maintain weight loss. But food is by far the more important piece, imo, and I would just concentrate on that first. WW encourages simple forms of exercise, too, like just working a daily walk in.
I will be honest - whenever I've started WW again, the first week or so is an adjustment since you are cutting back what you are eating. But then once I've adjusted to it, it's really something that can easily be maintained for life. It's not a deprivation diet - you can eat at restaurants, have wine, sweets, etc. But your points allowance goes further if you choose healthier, low point options (like fruits, veggies, low-fat dairy, whole grains). IL love food - love to cook, love to entertain - and WW has always been very workable for me.
As others have said, WW recommends a loss of .5 to 2 lbs a week. In the past, I've lost 40 lbs in about 5 months, but I am a little older now, so don't know if it will go so quickly. I think the rate of loss depends on a lot of factors - - how much you have to lose, how old you are, how much you exercise, where you are in your weight loss (people tend to lose more at the beginning). I think it's more important to focus on consistent loss than putting a timeline on it, which may make you feel discouraged if you can't hit your goals in time. WWs has the "it's a marathon, not a sprint" philosophy, so they want you to focus on the long-term changes.
I prefer meetings for the structure, support, and the accountability of having someone else weigh me weekly. But so many people have been successful with the online program. It really depends on what works better for you.
As others have said, the payment plan differs depending on what option you choose. I like having the etools... I just started using the bar code scanner and WW mobile app, and they are really helpful!

I think the other ladies did a great job of answering your questions. I am a former lifetime member (I think I had officially lost 90 lbs through ww). After DS, I got right back on track and I lost all but 10 lbs of a 65 lb weight gain from pregnancy (and overeating of course). I got side tracked and then pregnant again. I am now back on the program. Here are my two cents...
-If you eat healthy and aren't filling up on "junk" you will be more than satisfied. One thing I love about this program is that fruit and veggies are free. I feel like this really motivates me to snack on something healthy as opposed to a processed snack that would leave me hungry.
-Don't do the math. Don't go into this trying to figure out how much you will lose by such and such date. Take it day by day, meal by meal. Don't put that kind of pressure on yourself! If you have a lot to lose...make small goals. 5 lbs at a time.
-I know a lot of people have success with ww online, but there is "magic in the meetings." Their research shows that members who attend meetings regularly are more successful at losing weight and keeping it off. As a first time member, I would go. This time around I am actually doing it online and coming on here to stay accountable. I just can't commit to going to meetings right now, but I also don't think I need it. That's just me.
Good luck! I am sure you will love it!
