How far in advance do you send out invitations for a preschool party? Also, do you mail them to their friends in school or do you put it in their backpack for the teacher to give? I figured I'd mail them, but I didn't think the parents would know who the party was for since they never met DS lol Thanks!

I would send out the invitations a month to a month and a half in advance. Mail them, definitely. Children tend to loose things, especially at such a young age. The invitation can easily fall out of a backpack or get lost among all the other papers. Parents will appreciate a mail invite as well and they are more likely to remember and RSVP because they will hang it on their fridge. Good luck with the party!

Re: Preschool Party

My DS is in preschool, and I had a birthday party for him recently (and also last year, too). Both years, I got the contract list from the school and mailed the invitations home. This is what all of DS's classmates parents have done, too, and it seems to work well.

I sent them out about a month in advance (my DS's birthday is early December), and I mail the invitations the first week of November.

If you are worried that the parents won't know who the party is for just by your DS's name alone, you could always put the name of the preschool in parentheses after his name! But I am sure most would assume it's a classmate.

I would send them no earlier than a month out. I usually do a couple of weeks. Most people forget about things that have an RSVP date that is weeks away.

Thanks everybody! I ended up sending them out about 3 weeks ahead of time. Still waiting on all of the responses, but I'm excited!
