Howling cat at night...losing it!
I have a 12 year I'd female torti. She's always been a vocal cat and would occasionally meow at night. Lately she has been howling excessively at night fr no reason for hours. Last night she was sitting on my couch doing it. She doesn't do this during the day. I really can't afford to take her to the vet. After months out of our house from sandy we are finally home. anyone have experience with this?

Is she fixed? That was the only time our cat would howl, when she was in heat. Little tramp.

I also have a 12 year old Torti who just started doing this recently there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her and she stops if my mom lets her in her room. We also have a Calico so she's not alone. She is fixed.

does she stop when you acknowledge her? my torti does something similar. she meows incessantly & very loudly (usually with a toy in her mouth) until we say her name or something like 'good Gigi, good girl' and then she stops.

I talked to one of my friends about this over the weekend and she said if they hear a cat in heat outside howling they will howl back
