How to go out by yourself- convertible seats.

How do you put them safely in the car in the driveway? Do you bring one out at a time? Do you lock the car? what do you do?
I am so confused. I usually take both car seats out, put one by the back door in her infant carrier while loading the other. If I leave either one of them loose in the house, she can get nuts, lol.

they are 2 now, so I can leave my quiet one for a moment by the door while I strap in my crazy one. WHen we first switched them I had a pack and play by the door so I knew the other one was safe.

In my neighborhood I dont have to worry about locking the car door. Its only a few feet from the garage door.

Re: How to go out by yourself- convertible seats.

I have to say this was one of my biggest worries. I've tried everything. I didn't really want to leave one in the house or car alone even if it was just for a few seconds. This was one of the reasons I got the city select stroller. I wanted to be able to buckle them in and get all my bags together before I got in the car. It worked but was just too much. I also tried putting one in a really cheap and light umbrella stroller so I could hold one and push the other. As they got bigger and a bit older, I got a backpack diaper bag and carried both. We have a minivan, so my daughter would stand in the van next to my son's seat while I buckled him in. This is still my routine and it works for us.

I was beyond stressed when we got rid of the infant seats. I really didn't realize how difficult it would be. Good luck!

ugh, im going thru this now! i leave one in the car with my daughter and bring the other one in and either leave him in his hi chair with a toy or in the superyard gate thingy and i run out and get the other one. i cant wait till they can walk and i can just hold their hands and walk them in at the same time!!!

This is how I take mine out of the car and back into the house.

I used to leave one in the exersaucer by the door.
Once they could walk well I would carry one and let the other walk and have one sit on the floor of the car while I buckled the other in.

once they got a little older I could leave one in the house unattended but my house is very baby/toddler safe

this is a great post! i havent switched from using the infant seats yet and right now we are still living in a building so i strap them in the infant car seats and use the snap n go. load everything up in that and then go to the car and same routine when leaving the car.

in about a month we will be moving into a house and soon we will be using convertible seats so i'm not sure what i'm gonna do on the days i'm by myself!

I think that since we don't use those jumparoos and excersaucers as much anymore, I am going to put the Jumparoo by the back door. hope this works because it will be awesome!

I would put everything I would need besides the kids on my porch. Then I would carry both at, strap them in and then get the stuff from the porch. I couldn't wait for them to walk so that I could let them walk to the car and not have to carry both of them. It was the biggest pain of having the two of them. I was glad they stayed as long as they did in the infant seats cause they were smaller, lol.

Re: How to go out by yourself- convertible seats.

I usually just used my stroller and load everyone and everything up into it, then go out to the driveway, and buckle one kid in while the other sat in the stroller. Now that they are walking, its a bit more cagey as if i am carrying anything they can mobilize and get down the driveway, or try to go play on the front lawn, so if I have a lot to bring out to the car, I do so with the stroller still.

When I put them inside, same deal in reverse, or I will wait till they are in their highchairs or down for a nap till i get the rest of the stuff from my car.

I bring one and my bag to the car and buckle while the other is in the play yard. Then I lock the door and go get the other. Coming home I put them both in then get the bags. Its sometimes 4 trips so luckily my driveway is close to the house.

Re: How to go out by yourself- convertible seats.

home - one waits in the baby jail as i pack the other one in the car. or since they are both walking i take them both outside and one will stand close to me while im buckling the other one in.

if its at daycare and i dont have that luxury of safety, i throw one in their seat unbuckled and close the door so they cant run off.

then i go to the other side and buckle the other one in.

then i go back to the unbuckled one and fix them correctly.

Re: How to go out by yourself- convertible seats.

I used to carry them both out and sit one on the floor of the van while I strapped the other in. Then picked the one on the floor up walked around and put her in. It became such a routine that even when they were crawling the wouldn't on the floor of the car.

So grateful now they are 2.5 and they walk and climb into the car and car seats themselves!
