Anyone have carpal tunnel surgery?
I just found out that I have to have CT surgery on both of my wrists . I have two little ones (ages 3yrs and 6m) and can't imagine how I'll take care of them with just one hand?
What's the recovery like? When did you go back to work? what do they give you for pain meds?

Re: Anyone have carpal tunnel surgery?
i had surgery on both hands (at separate times) the recovery isnt bad - they give pain meds but after the first day i didnt really need them (and i think the first day i really only took them as a precaution bc i expected the numbness to wear off and be in pain)
when the stitches are in its hard - you cant get your hand wet nor can you drive but once they come out its much easier i went for physical therapy to strengthen up my hand after each surgery which i found helped a LOT. my first surgery was on my left hand (im right handed) and the incision was SO sensitive i couldnt do much, but from what i have been told thats not a common reaction. thankfully my right hand recovery was much easier.
having a 6 month old i imagine would be tough bc of holding them, changing them etc - esp if you are a sahm. i would probably try to wait a little if you can - unless you have DH or someone that can do all of that while you cant (i cant imagine changing dd diaper with one hand - she kicks so much i would be worried she kicks the hand with the incision)
PM if you have anymore questions
